Given the nature of reproduction and of natural selection isn't evolution inescapable?
How can evolution not happen?

Let's leave ignorance out - let's not become arrogant.
I think you have proven my point for me with your question. Your question oozes positivism - only that which can be proven by science can possibly be true - that is a major fallacy.Let's see you show that 'The Hand of God' can be seen in nature. How would you know?? How can you test that statement, or is that just the logical fallacy of 'Argument from personal belief', also known as 'argument from ignorance'?

Post #52Genetic code is produced completely by nature. There is no god dipping his fingers in every organism's DNA everytime there is a change in genetic code. Its just nature and chemistry.Doulos wrote: [Replying to post 46 by olavisjo]
Genetic code is essentially a message - all messages have an author - genetic code included. If it does not have an author it popped into existence from nowhere - that is ridiculous to say the least. What came first, the ability to write genetic code, the genetic code itself, the ability to read genetic code, or the ability to translate genetic code.
But let me guess, you don't believe in evolution. You pick and choose which scientific findings you believe based on their compatibility with your holy book.
Religion remains the only mode of discourse that encourages grown men and women to pretend to know things they manifestly do not know.

Re: Evolution
Post #55Yes , because we know what things man can make and how they are produced. That is, we have examples to go by for comparison if we question whether something is man-made. We don't have anything to compare for "god-made".Wissing wrote:Can the hand of man be seen in technology?Let's see you show that 'The Hand of God' can be seen in nature. How would you know?? We also have examples of things that seem like nature designed them: for example snowflakes.

Plain and simple logic points in the other direction - for sure!
And that is proof that vastly ... vastly more complex beings could not have been created/made/designed???Yes , because we know what things man can make and how they are produced.

Post #57Really??? DO you understand the power of 'variation in reproduction plus selection?"Doulos wrote: [Replying to post 54 by scourge99]

Take that into account, the so called 'genetic algorithms, and your entire argument falls flat on it's face.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

And now you tell me that genetic code miraculously appeared from thin air - dream on. Apart form that - living things form a small part of the universe. In the bigger picture, 'genetic algorithms' can only exist if Someone made it possible.Take that into account, the so called 'genetic algorithms, and your entire argument falls flat on it's face.

Post #59Did someone make it possible?? Please, show me the evidence that the reason the genetic algorthems worth is that 'someone made it possible'.Doulos wrote: [Replying to post 56 by Goat]

And, you are using the logical fallacy known as 'argument from personal incredulity' when it comes to 'genetic code miraculously appeared from thin air', as well as a straw man.
Do you know what the hypothesis are about that? It seems that your responses do not correspond to , well, what is actually thought by the scientists who study the matter.
The response you give also indicates that you do not know the difference between abiogenesis and evolution. I think it would benefit you if you actually learned a tiny bit about what you are attacking first. You would be able to actually address what is said, rather than a creationist distortion.

You agree that the hand of man can be seen in technology.
However, I would say that technology evolved, and continues to evolve. Evidence is presented a few pages ago in this thread.
Would you agree that technology evolves?
