Therefore, what consensus is there for any evidence for a soul(s)? As the existence of the soul is very central to any belief or religion.

In short: In Bible usage shows the soul to be a person or an animal or the life that a person or an animal enjoys.
It's circularity all right. Why bother with the specialist word "soul" if it simply means person? As I pointed out, Christ himself believed in the non-corporeal world whence the soul fled when it had left the body.dio9 wrote: [Replying to post 66 by JehovahsWitness]
To say a person is a soul and a soul is a person is circular reasoning.
No, so says the entire body of Hebrew scholars and pretty much any reference you care to turn to; it's not a matter of opinion, it is a fact, the two words are different. Are you suggesting that "soul" and "spirit" are the same in Hebrew?marco wrote:So you say, in order to maintain some semblance of correctness.JehovahsWitness wrote:
The word under discussion is soul. You posted a scripture that doesn't even mention the world "soul". "soul" and "spirit" are not the same words.

Why are you telling me this, did I suggest spirits do not exist? If so, feel free to direct me to the post or produce a quote, otherwise, you might like to direct your random unrelated observations elsewhere.marco wrote: I got my information directly from his reported words. If he did not accept the existence of spirits, he would not have made the point about the apostles mistaking him for a ghost.
This is an old argument and the picture you offered is not a biblical reference. You know what my point is. Jesus referred to the body becoming a spirit on death. This conflicts with your view that there is no spiritual part to the body, whether you call it a soul or a spirit.JehovahsWitness wrote:
