What purpose would a system of government have in heaven?

Post by Justin108 »

What purpose would a system of government have when God is both omnipotent and omniscient? Why would an omnipotent God need to delegate in order to effectively rule? Can you perhaps give a few examples of what these rulers would be tasked to do? What purpose would rulers have in a paradise society? There is no economy to take care of, no resource distribution, no justice system as all members at this point will be free of sin... what is left for the rulers to do?

The purpose of the government, as with all governments, is to establish and enforce an administeration to maintain order in a new world system. While God is both omnipotent and omnicient by nature, this doesn't stop him choosing to delegate if that be his pleasure.
So you can't give me an actual rational reason other than "because God wants to"? In case this was not obvious from my OP, I want to know why God would want to?
JW just told you why.

.
Yes and his why comes down to "because God wants to". God can effectively rule without assigning tasks to 144 000 people. So why do it? JW's answer comes down to "because God wants to" and something to the effect of making the 144 000 feel special.
So tell me what's wrong with that.
It's a non-answer

Why did John Wilkes Booth kill Abraham Lincoln?
- because he wanted to

Why did Hitler invade Poland?
- because he wanted to

These are non-answers

I acknowledge that is how you feel, and I am not minimizing your feelings, but I am simply presenting what the bible says on the matter. Biblically speaking there is nothing wrong with the fact that human bodies need food, it is an expression of God's love that he has made something that is necessary ALSO pleasurable.

From a biblical stand point (the BIBLE) there is nothing at all wrong with needing to eat.
onewithhim asked me why removing the need to eat would be an improvement. I answered him/her. At this point, we weren't discussing the Bible so I don't see the relevance of your response.
This is Theology, Doctrine and Dogma so presenting the bible, especially as it is totally relevant to the OP is I think completely reasonable. There is no debate on your feelings, your feelings, beliefs and desires are you own; I have acknowledged you feel how you feel. There's nothing to debate on that point.

What the bible indicates and how it can be understood is the unspoken premise of all my posts.

onewithhim asked me what I thought. I told him/her what I thought. The Bible, even here in Theology, Doctrine, and Dogma is entirely irrelevant to what I thought.

Fair enough, your thoughts have been duly noted. The Jehovah's Witness beliefs are based on our understanding of the bible, which doesn't present the need to eat (or breath, or drink, or sleep) as a human defect.

Menstruating for eternity?

Where did that come from?

Not from Jesus!
I think you are asking the wrong person. I agree. I am unclear as well how JWs insist on such speculation. That was my point.

I agree with your response to One. I was very much looking forward to not having to brush my teeth in eternity and I am serious about that. And I dont understand if they are supposed to be perfect, why are we brushing? What if in heaven we didnt brush our teeth? Can we still get cavities? These are the problematic questions neither JW or One seem to be able to answer in this thread.

I know they think they are painting their paradise earth as this wonderful world, but I still see work and logistics problems. And what I dont see is God.

What confuses me most is what if we don't eat? Will we die? Is there an after-afterlife waiting for those who starve to death in paradise?

To know. To grow. I am a Univerasist Christian and do believe that ultimately all people will know God and ultimately all will be free of this sin and death we deal with in this world today. The reason God is calling his elect which is so all people will know who God is. He is not this god that is taught in the religious world today. All hell means the grave or the pit. God's fire is spiritual in nature and will burn up all the sin and death and make all of His creation free and pure.

Can you perhaps explain these two verses?
