Does anyone actually believe the story of Noah's Ark?
Post #1I know a bunch of Christians, and so many of them believe that Noah's Ark is a myth. Basically just a story to teach morals and lessons. I personally see a lot of things wrong with the story of the flood. So I was wondering, if anyone believes the story of Noah's Ark, and the world flood, to be the truth?

With the kangaroos and their fossils:
Let's say Noah somehow got kangaroos to the middle east from Australia. How would they get back?

The bible doesn't say Noah travelled anywhere to "get" the animals. Marsupials fossils have been found all over the world including the Americas and Europe. Although presently mainly found in South America and Australia, it seems marsupials actually originated elsewhere.
Paleontologists theorize that since both South America and Australia were connected to Antarctica, "marsupials and their relatives bounded down from South America, strode across Antarctica and wound up in Australia". So early "relatives" of kangeroos and koalas may well have been found in many regions of the world in Noah day and the peoples who originally settled the on the continent after the flood took them with them when they settled, or the animals travelled there before the continents drifted apart."Marsupials absolutely categorically did not originate in Australia...they are immigrants"

As far as I know there is nothing in jesus' own words. He wrote nothing. In fact the words accredited to him speaking are not even his words. He said so. He said the words he speaks are not his. They are words from the one who sent him. Who that is he really doesn't say. Does he? The father...? Still not clear enough.

Lest we forget, elephants have to drink as well:
1 gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds.
8.34 x 50 = 417 pounds of water a day for ONE elephant
How was that water transported to the elephant?
How was water transported to all the animals?
Where did that much fresh water come from?

Here's another problem that is often ignored:
How could the urine produced by this one animal be removed?
How could the urine produced by all the animals be removed?
How could it not seep into the food storage areas?

Here's another problem that is often ignored:
- Hopefully, no one ever has to change an elephant's diaper, because man, would that be heavy. An elephant can urinate about 42.3 gallons in one go. Perhaps taking "a leak" isn't an accurate way to describe it. It's more like the gush of a broken sewer pipe: almost 1.5 gallons of liquid launching from the urethra every second.

Jehovah's Witness:
There's four really important peice of information that I don't know, so help clarify things for you.
1) How old do you think the Earth is?
2) How old is the universe?
3) How long ago did the flood happen?
4) Is the Earth flat?

According to a biblical chronology the Flood occurred in 2370 BC, Adam was created in 4025/4026 BC.
The planet was formed much longer before Adam was created, for the Bible does not say when the event referred to in Gen. 1: 1 occurred, nor does it say how long "one day" means from the biblical point of view.
According to the Bible there were 6 days of preparing the planet for life, but those days only refer to the transformation of a planet that had already been created since the event of Gen. 1: 1.

Eloi:
Why would anyone write it as a day? Wouldn't that obviously cause confusion?
If the flood happened 2370 BC, please feel free to answer my previous questions.
A few would be:
How animals like whale's would ever be able to survive the incredibly quick change of the salinity of the ocean
How do we still have things like trees, especially ones that are older then the flood
How animals like Galapagos Tortoises would've gotten to the ark
How do you explain the dinosaurs
etc.
And why would God even need to use a flood? He's an omnipotent being, can't he just will, all the things he wanted to kill, out of existence?

Topaz27, my comment was about your questions related to the Flood and what Bible says ... Your new questions have nothing to do with this subforum ... Nevertheless, there are some answers back in the thread.

Eloi:
It absolutely has something to do with this subforum. This subforum is about the validity of Noah's ark and the flood. I then asked you question relating to the ark, that I had previously stated. Which you seemed to have no problem with then. Then I asked why God would use a flood to destroy things, when he very well could do it many other ways. I don't see how my questions don't apply to Noah's ark and the flood.
I also still haven't gotten any answers to my questions from someone who believe in a young Earth.
I'm not asking if the flood happened. I'm asking that if the flood happened, then why did animals like whales not die from the lack of salt in the oceans after it rained/"fountains of the deep burst forth." Why are there trees that are older then the flood, when they would've surely died from being in the water for that long? How would animals like Galapagos Tortoises even make it to the ark? How would they have gotten back? etc.
If the flood did happen, then there should also be concrete and solid ways to expain those points. As well as numerous others.
