power requires greater responsibility

Let not overzealous moderators silence what they not yet understand.

P.S.
The cure for ignorants is an open mind and a dose of reality. I'm guessing dave.22 sees this self evident truth. Others convince me not.

This post makes me angry. How dare you try to exploit the recent tragic events in Paris to try to gain sympathy for anyone who may have or will be censured on this site.

For one thing, the victims at Charlie Hedbo are not free to write or to publish anywhere, they are dead. The absolute worst DebatingChristianity has done, or is likely to do is to remove one channel of access to those who repeatedly break the rules that they agreed to when they signed up. Those banished from this site are free to publish elsewhere.

Freedom of the press and freedom of speech are principles supported here. As a publisher, DebatingChristianity must have the freedom to host and to publish online only what it deems to be suitable. The way that we do this is by a set of rules adjudicated by a panel of moderators representing a wide range of diverse views on the matters of religion. We wholeheartedly support the right of freedom of speech, opinion and the press, even of those who we find unsuitable to publish here, to express and to publish their views.

guilty conscience

Truth insults willful ignorance. Some have a problem with that. What else is new? It truly saddens me to see a person out of touch and reality. It saddens me even more to see an otherwise intelligent person fabricate false motives and foment hostility. And it saddens me ever more to see an otherwise kind and well reasoned person succumb to power and fabricate false motives and pass out warnings like brownie points. Just in case, of course. What kind of rules rule just like that? Not the rule of rules I trust.

Now who will tell dave.22, Ronaldo Axolotl does not insult tadpoles or froggy avatars?
Now who will tell dave.22, imatfaal and the empress proved me right a time ago; dogma is more insidious cloaked as science?

The fact you are suffered to remain on this site refutes your argument.
If you don't like one or more of the rules here, state your case for its removal or modification. That is the purpose of Comments, Suggestions, and Questions

What is the implication when I compliment a poster and receive a threat of ban for maybe insulting the avatar?
Are you saying I have lost touch with reality?

Please answer with utmost civilly and without threat or hostility.

Thanks

Well, as I see it, there are a variety of potential circumstances where such actions are justified. Any of these may be applicable to your situation, or none of them.

A) You've broken several rules beforehand with no inclination to change your behavior and attitudes toward others, and 'maybe insulting' an avatar is the straw that broke the camel's back.

B) The 'insulting' thing said about the avatar is grossly disproportionate to the level of discussion that the avatar warrants.

C) The comment about the avatar is made in an inappropriate place, and the report is not for the avatar comment itself, but the derailment that such a comment would cause if answered.

Did your ancestors crawl out of salty see, or mossy mountain seep?

Religious dogma propagates one day mankind was magically molded out of clay some thousands of years ago. Science dogma propagates amphibians crawled out of salty sea. From what I see in heaven and earth and flesh, I will believe my ancestors once frolicked in mossy mountain seeps.
