The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

In the beginning was the Kingdom of God.
There is no end to it.

You have to look at all the verses and not ignore the verses I already posted to show the kingdom is a state of being.

Thus this kingdom in Daniel is just the fullness of the state of being in Christ when death will be no more, and so the state of being will last forever.

Yes.....Jehovah's Witnesses. Check out their website. www.jw.org"

You claim that the JW’s are the fulfillment of Daniels prophesy/

Daniel makes it very clear that the kingdom of God is to be established or set up by God and not by man alone.

1.Do the JW’s have any evidence or claim that God himself was involved in setting up his kingdom?

2. Do the JW’s have any record of this communication direct with God and what he has done to set up this kingdom?

3. Or is your claimed kingdom just the work of man’s wisdom?

Kind regards,
RW

So .... WHAT IS GOD'S KINGDOM?

So... the kingdom of God is.... everyone (whether they live on earth or in heaven)? All humans. angels as well as Jesus Christ. So if a little girl was to ask "Am I God's Kingdom ?" The correct answer would be "yes" And if she was to ask "... but what IS it ... I mean it is a thing?" The correct answer is : "yes, its people. God's kingdom is all the people that exist. ... its another word for EVERYONE"

IS THE ABOVE CORRECT?

Please supply the scritura evidence that the kingdom is everyone that exists.

The kingdom of God is past, present and future.

God’s Kingdom is His rule or reign. God’s priests and holy nation (Exodus 19:5-6; I Peter 2:5-9) became a manifestation of His sovereignty made visible in His people (Israel in the Old Testament, the church in the New Testament).

God’s kingdom is also territory or people over whom a king rules.

The ekklesia are the called out, called out from darkness and translated into the kingdom (Colossians 1:13). The apostle, John, was in the kingdom (John 1:9).

The kingdom of God is here now and will be until Jesus comes again. At that time, He will deliver the kingdom to God the Father (1 Corinthians 15:24).
”For unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24

I'm very confused..., you seem to allude to the ancent people of Israel but then to the Christian arrangement ...can you explain clearly
Who rules?

From where do they rule?

Who are the subjects ?

And ... has the above arrangement already started?

Thanks

What would you say to Aquinas' suggestion that Gods kingdom is everyone that exists?

And yet I never said that. I said the kingdom of God is a state of existence. I did not say everyone shares in that state. I don't even see how it is possible for you to get that from the verses I posted and explained.

I dont know what that means, a state is a condition, the condition is inseperable from the person (or object); otherwise it is an abstract notion. So, is Gods kingdom an abstract notion, (an idea) in the minds of people or is Gods kingdom the condition (they exist) of people.

Just say it like you are speaking to a 2 year old... use another word(s) so your listeners understand, I certainly don't. Try again simpler... less verbage, more meaning please.
a) Gods kingdom is intelligent beings
b) Gods kingdom is an idea
c) other ... explain
While you're at it, what is THE UNITED KINGDOM ?

A state of being is abstract, though the being itself can be concrete.

I am a real person. I am made of substance so I am concrete. I am not abstract, but I have abstract states of being, such as happy or calm. The state of being of the kingdom is to be united with Christ, to have Christ in our hearts, thus it is not a state that everyone shares in. Atheists for example do not experience the kingdom of God on earth.

When that state will be experienced in the fullness that we can experience it is when we receive glorified bodies as Jesus and Mary have.

I am not sure what you mean by united kingdom.
