The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

This doesn't conflict with the fact Jesus said the Kingdom already came, is here, is in you, etc. This is why the kingdom is about a state of existing. It is why Christ is the kingdom come.

But the kingdom to come is about when death is defeated and there is death no more in the kingdom, i.e. in us. We await the final work of the kingdom, which is Christ who defeated death but death hasn't come to and end yet.

1. "there is death no more in the kingdom, i.e. in us" MY QUESTION Is ..."the kingdom" "US"?

2. "the Kingdom already came, is here, is IN you" MY QUESTION : So is the kingdom in[side] of me or is it me?

3. "Christ is the kingdom come" MY QUESTION : So is the kingdom Christ? Me or something INSIDE of me ?

WHAT IS GOD'S KINGDOM? God's kingdom is [ .....please fill in the blank .....]

Mark 1:15

"And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."

The earthly kingdom has come; it is the church.

Col 1:13

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

The kingdom is a state of being, which is why it can be here, it can be Jesus himself, it can be in or amongst us (depending on the translation) and it can be coming in the future. A greater state of being comes in the future, which lacks death.

It is a state of being for rational beings, of course. Those who can receive Christ.

The kingdom is a state of being
Okay so.... the kingdom of God is the state of being [existence] of potential Christians ie human beings?

Not just humans, for the kingdom of God is also of angels. I showed a verse where it seems Christ himself is the kingdom. He was here among us, and he is said to be in the believers. To be one with Christ then is to be in the kingdom of God.

But the fullness of the kingdom, of that oneness with God hasn't finished because we still die.

So .... WHAT IS GOD'S KINGDOM?

So... the kingdom of God is.... everyone (whether they live on earth or in heaven)? All humans. angels as well as Jesus Christ. So if a little girl was to ask "Am I God's Kingdom ?" The correct answer would be "yes" And if she was to ask "... but what IS it ... I mean it is a thing?" The correct answer is : "yes, its people. God's kingdom is all the people that exist. ... its another word for EVERYONE"

IS THE ABOVE CORRECT?

How could the Kingdom be "in us" when the Scriptures show that the Kingdom is a powerful government set up by God to eventually rule the planet? How do you explain the following, if it is not a powerful government?

"...The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed....It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever." (Daniel 2:44)

"A child has been born to us, a son has been given to us; and the government will rest on his shoulder....To the increase of his government and to peace, there will be no end, on the throne of David and on his kingdom in order to establish it firmly and to sustain it through justice and righteousness, from now on and forever." (Isaiah 9:6,7)
