Jesus claimed to be God (John 8:14)

John 8:14
Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going (NASB).

Why do some deny the Lord Jesus is God even though the Lord Jesus claimed that His testimony alone was to be believed (cf. Deuteronomy 17:6)?

There is no discrepancy seeing that the Lord Jesus was worshiped in Hebrews 1:6.
See my first post where the Greek word proskyne is PROPERLY defined.

This also proves that the Lord Jesus is God.

Oh no the Father did NOT refer to Jesus as "God" in Hebrews 1:8, and this would be evident if we delved a bit deeper into the rendering of that verse. Jason BeDuhn, in his excellent book, Truth in Translation, explains why "your throne O God" is a very unlikely rendering. (See pages 97-101.) He shows that the better translation would be: God is your throne, meaning that God is the source of the authority and power that Jesus is given.

Certainly we can see the discrepancy in the rendering of verse 8 when we look at the very next verse which says that THE SON HAS A GOD, a God that anointed him with "the oil of exultation."

You don't get any Brownie Points for that, Faber. And "worship" has been explained ad nauseum to you, if you would kindly review those explanations.
This is the way to look at the subject of whether or not Jesus is God according to Hebrews 1:8, and it has been explained what "worship" means. That's the way it stands. Nothing is going to change. That is the way things are really defined, not they way you keep insisting without substantiation.

QUESTION Where did the writing we call Hebrews come from. When was it written?

RESPONSE:

Where exactly in his claim that are you saying that "the Lord Jesus claimed that His testimony alone was to be believed " (Incidently, Deuteronomy was written about 800 years before Jesus).

What were his exact words or are you using your own interpretation?
