Do JW's examine the nature of the imagery of their sect?

Post by William »

Imagery is a powerful device in which to capture the imaginations of individuals for the purpose of enticing them into supporting that which is imaged.

Every business - secular or religious based - know the importance of imagery in relation to attracting investors/supporters of said business.

Q: What are the kind of people who are attracted to JW imagery, and why do these particular types fill a niche in the market?

The organisation is able to be studied in this light, as an example as to how long it takes for a small business to gain popularity and how long it takes for the business to grow in the hustle-bustle of the market place and what clientele the organisation is attracting which are otherwise not accounted for in said market place.

The image below, is just one of many which are used to attract a particular type of human being with the expectation of getting them to part with money, and the method used to spread this organisations advertising involves getting the clients themselves to promote the business by freely distributing the propaganda door to door, not even having to pay said clients for the service, as the clients believe they are doing so for the Christian sects claimed leader, "Jehovah", and therefore willingly promote the JW.Org for free, based upon the promise of reward "When Jesus (Jehovah's representative) returns" - or some similar type promise. "Pay in this life - get your reward for service in the next"

With images of what that promised next life will be like.

Image

There are of course many types of imagery used by this organisation, which gives a clear indication of the types of individuals that the business is focused upon attracting, to build the numbers and maintain their piece of the action in the marketplace.

The image above, represents a white middle-class nuclear family walking hand in hand toward an idyllic scene, appropriately costumed in acceptable garb, and no other humans around.

Q: What does this image invoke in the individual who identifies with it?
Q: Who is most likely going to identify with it?

Obviously the JW organisation is reaching out to white middle class family orientated folk as one type of customer in which they feel their message will take hold and earn money from.

I, for one, can bear witness to the fact that white middle class people representing the organization are predominately the ones knocking on my door, trying to get me to buy into the JW.orgs imagery.

I am reminded that when one is not specific enough, another can find loopholes to dance through, with the pretense that they are answering a question asked of them, even that they most certainly are not, and likely know that is the case.

The reader note, the JWOrg imagery can paint GOD and ANGELS with European skin, or even with animal heads, but when asked, have trouble finding any imagery of GOD or Angels as being non-European in complexion.

Why am I not surprised...

#1. In this image we see two men (one black one white) presumably representing Jehovah's Witness ministers, discussing the bible with a man with a beard, and body art (tatoos) possibly "a biker" ( an enthusiast of motorbikes and the culture that has built around them). One might conclude the image is in the literature so that people that lead this lifestyle, might identify with what they see since images are a powerful tool in transmitting messages.

The purpose of this thread is to explore ALL of the imagery as it is posted, with in mind to understand the type of market niche the JW organization is after in relation to the individuals it attracts through said imagery.
Emphasis MINE

#2. Presumably the intended message is that JWs are not selective of who they preach to, and that the organisation is "after" anyone, anyone at all that likes the idea of living in paradise and is desirous of making the needed changes* to be there, regardless of their skin colour, lifestyle or sexual orientation.

The question I have is what would JWs expect this dude to look like if he bought the sales pitch they were presenting.

Would they expect him to wear a neck tie as the two JWs are wearing and if so, what would a neck tie have to do with righteousness or whatever it is that the two JWs are attempting to sell?

I dont reply to loaded questions. The picture depicts a bible study with two of Jehovah's Witnesses and nothing is sold to the students before, during or after following a bible study course. All bible courses are offered free of charge.

For more information on studying the bible with jw see video "What Happens at a Bible Study?" below.

William: The New Earth imagery shows us - along with the explanations of the imagery - that the JW organisation as a business is attracting a certain type of [person] no dreadlocks, no body art, no untrimmed beards, no men with long hair.

JehovahsWitness: Here is an image...

William: Please explain to the reader, in your own words, what you see in the image you have posted.

JehovahsWitness: In this image we see two men (one black one white) presumably representing Jehovah's Witness ministers, discussing the bible with a man with a beard, and body art (tatoos) possibly "a biker" ( an enthusiast of motorbikes and the culture that has built around them). One might conclude the image is in the literature so that people that lead this lifestyle, might identify with what they see since images are a powerful tool in transmitting messages.

William:
Q:What has that image got to do with what I wrote about the type of imagery the organization uses to depict those living in the New Earth situation?

Q: Can you show the reader any image used to depict those living in the New Earth situation which includes the things I mentioned as being absent?

JWOrg Proselytizer: WHICH CONTEMPORARY RELIGIOUS ARTWORK GIVES AN ACCURATE DEPICTION OF JESUS?

William: Okay! No need to SHOUT! :)
The reader will note that while scribes are mentioned following Jesus around, there in no mention of his barber doing the same. It would be more accurate for a person to assume that Jesus might have had dreadlocks. I do not believe the image presented is as accurate as claimed.
I think that rather, the JWOrg Proselytizer is infatuated by the robes men wear in the name of her idea of GOD. Images encourage such infatuation...perhaps a distraction from having to answer my questions above?
