Lots of people say Christians "Are trying to jam religion and God down our throats." Yes, I know how this is a figure of speech. But, I doubt any of these people can say how this actually happens. Nobody is forcing them to do anything about God or religion. Why the complaint?
To help non Believers in God to better understand why Christianity is good for them, here are some reasons:
1.) If you want to have a better life, obey God. Jesus says those who obey His Commands will live better and longer. Such as getting everything they need for life, and living forever.
2.) If you give yourself completely to God, you will not go to Hell.
3.) If you belong to God, you will feel better.
4.) If you become a Christian, you can even accidentally believe the wrong Theology, but as long as you state Jesus is God and He died for you, you can still go to Heaven.
5.) After you become a Christian, you will not go to Hell for not understanding The Bible, because no person alive understands The Bible. That is why every part of The Bible is argued about. After you die, then you will understand everything about it.
6.) If you become a Christian, you will always have someone important to talk to who lives you.
7.) Finally, when you are a Christian, you will probably save a lot of money on useless things. Maybe.

Post #31Do you know how to have a guardian angel, and how to attain a happy afterlife?Bust Nak wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 5:51 am [Replying to Benson in post #22]
Would? I don't think I would attain anything because I do not believe there is a god in the first place.
This probably isn't what you were asking either. I don't have a vision of God of my own, only what Christians tells me. I like the sound of a happy afterlife, I like having some guardian angel looking after my safety.

Do you think God is running around trying to prove Himself to people and failing? Do you think Christians are so desperate to believe in anything that we have Unicorn shrines in our houses and put teeth under our pillows? No. We were just as skeptical as anyone else and in one way or another God made His presence known to us and He is more real than you or I could ever be. When you have something affect your senses, you FEEL the presence. Have you ever laid there with your eyes closed and felt someone staring at you? You open your eyes and there they were! In my life personally I have had God make a way for me when there absolutely wasn't one. For example I got kicked out with my son on foot. My mother thought I was writing bad checks in her name but it turned out to be my brother. I had no where to go and I posted an ad on craigslist. I got a call, and the guy had a small 2 bd trailer he was renting in walking distance from where I was. Went to look at it- it was perfect. Totally remodeled. Dude wanted first and last months rent plus a security deposit. I was broke. I wanted it so bad and I started praying. Dude says " Tell you what- " HE HANDS ME THE KEY. " Go ahead and get your stuff and move in. We can work out the money later. We will leave the electricity on and you can just pay the bill when it comes." And he left! Who does that when they just remodeled a place and only did it to make money? We lived there for 5 years. Dude told me later " God told me to rent it to you." It was amazing and it isn't proof for you in your life, but it was for me in mine and the thing is I didn't NEED proof. I had faith that we would be ok. I wasn't expecting that though! I don't know where you live but in Phoenix that is unheard of. To get the keys to move in with no money, no background check, no deposit, no references, no proof of income. Nothing. He didn't even know my full name. Unheard of. People don't do that these days. The guy never tried to sleep with me and was always professional. I could quote you a bunch of scriptures but things like this have happened to me my whole life. God has never left me and that is just a blessing I guess. I give the glory to God because no one else made that happen. I would walk away from life right now and die for Jesus Christ. If I were forced to bow before someone or die I would die because my life is not worth living without Jesus. It just isn't.

Post #36Sure, depending on lots of factors. Mundane stuff, I will take people's words for it. Things not immediately obvious, I take the words of those who sound like they know what they are saying. Anything that doesn't immediate match up what I expect, I trust academia only. Things beyond physical world, I trust no one.

Post #38Yes, one could be saved from the judgment. But, still, eternal life is promised only for righteous. So, if after you are saved from judgment, you are not righteous, then the saving doesn’t help you. After all, when Jesus forgave sins (saved people), he said:nobspeople wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:44 pm ....
Romans 10:9-10
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved....
"Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more."
John 8:11
For sinner to get eternal life, there must happen change in “heart” as told in the following scriptures (sorry, if too much for you, I think they are necessary in this for you to understand the matter).
Jesus answered him, "Most assuredly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can't see the Kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can't enter into the Kingdom of God! That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Don't marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born anew.'
John 3:3-7
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:12-13
It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
John 6:63
"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days," says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be to them a God, And they will be to me a people. They will not teach every man his fellow citizen, Every man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' For all will know me, From the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more."
Hebrews 8:10-12 (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
According to those, there must happen change in person so that he becomes righteous. Otherwise forgiveness (salvation) is not useful. And this is why, if person on the gates of Heaven says, "sorry, can I enter", it will not help, if the person is not righteous.
I believe it can be possible that there happens real change in person in last moments and then it is ok, if person gets eternal life, because he has become righteous person who knows how to behave well. But, in any case, it is righteousness that is the key. And if person is righteous, it means for example this:
…He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.
1 John 3:7-10
I don’t think Hitler ever wanted to be righteous. But, I am not the judge.

Re: What Exactly Is Your Problem With Christianity?
Post #39So your claim of "giving false hope for hitlers, because Bible tells eternal life is for righteous" isn't correct. There's always hope for those that genuinely ask for it based on the bible. Righteousness come later as no one is born righteous. Righteousness is altogether a personal issue which no one here is able to judge, IMO. It's up to the individual to make that determination - between them and God.1213 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 11:13 amYes, one could be saved from the judgment. So saying 'giving false hope' is, as far as I can see it, nothing more than a way (for some reason) to secure and or protect one's assumed place within an establishment; an elite social club, as it were. Which is one reason so many get turned off by Christianity.
Christians are so quick to judge others based on their own personal belief. I often wonder if it's due to jealously, lack of faith in their own belief, or just because they like to 'be cruel'?
Have a great, potentially godless, day!

Post #40And yet, ironically, a major reason why the society in which you live does value the individual and fosters independent thought is due to Christianity.nobspeople wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:23 pm
I find modern Christianity a disgusting and vile, barbaric ritualization that has no place in society that values the individual and fosters independent thought.
