Does God fulfill petitionary and/or intercessory prayer requests?

Thank you in advance
In case anyone is wondering... The avatar quote states the following:

"I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness."

There's no evidence that prayer makes a positive difference. There is evidence that heart patients who knew they were being prayed for had worse outcomes than those who were prayed for and didn't know it or those who weren't prayed for at all. So if you're going to pray, don't tell anyone.

Can you suggest any set of criteria that could be used to distinguish a naturally occurring outcome from an outcome that was the result of God's intervention? If not, then there is no way to tell.

If He does, I think someone can always say "no, it was because something else".

I'll elaborate a bit... Theists state God answers prayer. By answer, I mean God sometimes grants a prayer request in favor of what was asked. IF this IS the case, I have a properly basic question...

If God sometimes grants prayer requests, why does He 100% of the time skip requests to remove Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, and/or restore the limb(s) of an amputee(s)?

Hi, 1213. Hope you are well.

It seems to me that if someone can always say "No, it was because of something else", then there is no really good reason to believe in a supernatural explanation. The fact that we can always point to natural explanations, seems to be an indication that maybe there is no supernatural explanation at all and that prayers are not being answered.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Prayers are always answered. It will be one of the following:
1) Yes
2) No
3) Wait
4) I have bigger and better things in store for you.

In other words, even if there is no God at all, you can still claim that God has answered your prayer.

If God sometimes grants prayer requests, why does He 100% of the time skip requests to remove Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, and/or restore the limb(s) of an amputee(s)?
God's a busy god. He doesn't have time to deal with the serious problems. But he does have time to help you find your car keys, throw a blessing on your food, or help you overcome your nose-picking habit.
