I would very much like to get opinions on this subject. I'll provide several verses from the King James Version of the Bible, and I ask you to give me feed-back.
Jesus' words:
1) "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." (John 5:19)
2) "My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me." (John 7:16)
3) "Neither came I of myself, but he sent me." (John 8:42)
He replied, after the Pharisees accused him of making himself God:
4) "Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the SON of God?" (John 10:36)
5) "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say....Whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." (John 12:49,50)
6) To his Father in prayer: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God , and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)
7) "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God." (John 20:17)
To John in the Revelation:
8) "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God..." (Revelation 3:12)
Do these quotations show that Jesus was NOT God?
Do YOU believe that he claimed to be God?

Re: JESUS IS NOT GOD
Post #682As I too have many versions that DO NOT include any fact that in Genesis 2:4 God made the heavens and earth in a day .onewithhim wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 6:23 pm [Replying to Miles in post #676]
Hmmmmm.....the New American Standard Bible renders Genesis 2:4 as such:
"This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the DAY that the LORD God made earth and heaven."
The Douay Confraternity Bible/New Catholic Version:
"These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the DAY that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth."
The Interlinear Bible (in Greek, Hebrew and English):
"These are the births of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in the DAY that Jehovah was making earth and heavens."
Would you like to do a bit more research? Obviously I have many versions that include the fact that God made the heavens and earth in a day. Now explain that, if a day is 24 hours long in all instances.
A bit more of my research
Tree of Live Version (TLV)
"These are the genealogical records of the heavens and the earth when they were created, at the time when Adonai Elohim made land and sky."
New Living Translation (NLT)
"This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth. When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,"
New International Version (NIV)
"This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens."
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
"That's how God created the heavens and the earth. When the Lord God made the heavens and the earth,"
Nope! No mention of day. Seems the day you're talking about just isn't all that important. Put it in, Leave it out. Who cares?
How about you explaining why "day" is showing up in the three verses you posted and not in the seven Bibles I've cited (includes the three Bibles I cited in post #676).Now explain that, if a day is 24 hours long in all instances.
As for some question about Jehovah's ability to make the earth and heavens in a single day, ain't god omnipotent; able to do anything he wants, however he wants? I always figured he could have made it all with the snap of his fingers, but wanted to spread it out over six days so he could say he rested on the seventh. As if god really needed to rest. Yeah, sure.

Re: JESUS IS NOT GOD
You have asked for opinions and feedback to your very great questions. The opinions and feed back given you are very many.
I would comment the opinions and feedback are of little value in understanding the mysteries of godliness, unless they are supported by scriptural evidence.
I would submit that If answers are given based on incorrect understanding or views on a subject, then in the final analysis the end answer is also incorrect.
Some Have said that, then, perhaps we should examine the identity and relationship of the "Godhead". The "Godhead" Consists of God the Other, God the Son and the Holy Ghost. These are three separate and distinct persons, who are one in unity.
The heaven and the earth that we know of are and were created under the direction of God the Father by God the Son (Jehovah) or Jesus Christ. When this scriptural doctrine is clearly understood, then the disputations and misunderstandings regarding Jehovahs roll and identity or place in the Godhead are eliminated. (See my posts in the topic title (Jehovah of the OT, is Jesus Christ of the New Testament.)
So, my question to you is, do you just want mere opinions and feedback, or do you want the TRUTH with available supporting scriptural evidence???
Kind regards,
RW

Re: JESUS IS NOT GOD
You claim that Jesus the Christ is just a mere mortal and is not God the Son.
1. Based on your claims, one mortal has the power to atone for the sins of all his fellow mortals.
2. Based on your claims our salvation and exaltation is 100% dependent upon a mere mortal.
3. Based on your claims no one could ever be resurrected or saved except by the power of one mere mortal.
4. Based upon your claims the heaven and earth were all created by a mere mortal.
How and on what basis do you make the above claims? Can you give a clear answer to each of the above 4 points.
Kind regards,
RW
