"....and all the world wondered after the beast." (Rev. 13:3)
The antichrist is supposed to fool everyone----except true Christians----into worshipping him.
How well would that work out? Would he be able to fool.....
Jews? Judaism holds that only God is to be worshipped and that God does not take any physical form. Worship of any human being is considered blasphemous idolatry, and any wonders the antichrist performed would be interpreted as the workings of a false teacher sent by God to test the Jewish people.
Muslims? Islam also teaches that God takes no physical form, so they too would instantly peg the antichrist as a phony.
Feminist Pagans would reject any god-claim which didn't acknowledge the Goddess.
Atheists would suspect any miracle of being either a trick or a coincidence. An "image of the beast" brought to life could be taken for an artificial intelligence project.
The god-claim of the antichrist being fundamentally incompatible with so many beliefs, who would be left for the antichrist to fool?
Who would the antichrist fool?

Yes they are called Christians.
And Muslims
And Pagans
And Atheists....
For them, The OT God is called the "Demiurge" and is considered a false creator and they believe that Christ revealed this knowledge in his well known [bible] and not so well known [other sources] teachings.
Christians who believe that the OT God is the entity Jesus refers to as his Father, are understood by these Gnostics, to be 'fooled about the Christ'.

Post #55Why do you assume Christians are so stupid or ignorant they would not take a perfectly safe and effective vaccine to save their lives and the lives of others they would infect by listening to science denying kooks and dopey wannabe tyrants who mislead them into injecting bleach and other disproved quack remedies?

Re: Who would the antichrist fool?
Post #57The church maintains that Revelation is mostly about Nero and already happened.
However, we do see a coming antichrist in 2 Thess.
He comes to deceive, and you do not need to deceive those who are already deceived or lost, like Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Pagans, etc.
When it says he makes himself like God and sits in the temple of God. This is understood in two ways. Some think the Jews will rebuild the temple and the antichrist will sit in it, so Jews would accept him as their messiah. He makes himself like God in the sense that he opposes all gods.
Other say the temple will not be rebuilt and so he sits in the temple of God here refers to in the church itself. One person in the church acts as God, which is the pope, so perhaps he will claim to be the pope.
He only needs to deceive and not be worshipped. If Muslims believe he is the Messiah, Isa, then they would be deceived by him, but he doesn't need to convince them he is Isa because Muslims are already deceived.
He might enter the church only to proclaim he is the truth and the truth is not found in the church. He will work miracles, signs and wonders and many Christians will be deceived into thinking he is holy and from God and that he speaks truth. Some Catholics will follow him.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the Antichrist. Look to yourselves that you may not lose what you have worked for but may win a full reward (2 John 1:7-8).
Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist is coming, so now many Antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour. . . . Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son (1 John 2:18-22).
The church maintains that antichrist have come and will still come until the Son of Perdition comes, the Antichrist.
Some of the antichrists came and took many away from the church, such as Arius who convinced even many priests against the Trinity. Saint Athanasius is who stood strong against him, acting in the likeness of Christ. Arius took many away from the church. He deceived many.
The Antichrist will be like Arius but working miracles.
