Re: Should I become an atheist and why?
Post #51Nope. The burden of proof is on you that everything is an Intelligent creation, not materialists to prove everything 100% only to have that denied (scientists are often wrong) anyway. And you can save the trouble of smearing materialists as being miserable because they can't believe everything is intelligently designed. You may be unable to get through life without your bottle, but we can.William wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 4:30 pmYou are currently a Christian, is that correct?
I think that before anyone drops the idea that they exist within a Creation, and "therefore - a Creator" they would be better to make sure that they have thoroughly discredited any scape of evidence before committing to non-theism.
Sadly, so many do not, and simply carry there disappointment with them for the rest of their days, and into their next experience after their bodies die.

Post #53There is an old saying I've heard "There are no uninteresting things, only uninterested people'. The only people who reckon life is boring without god faith are just people who find life boring. I not regard the idea that life only has interest with Godfaith as underwhelming.

Re: Should I become an atheist and why?
Post #55No, you're rather proving mine, that the idea that life as an atheist is boring is wrong. You do not admit n(though I would think you know it) that whatever interested a person outside of Christianity would still interest them without Christianity. If anything, it might enhance it if Christianity had in any way obscured their view of it. Of course, if they have no interests in life other than Christianity, that would make them boring people, which is why they might think that atheism would be boring.historia wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 10:41 pmYou're proving my point, TRANSPONDER.TRANSPONDER wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 10:34 pmThere is an old saying I've heard "There are no uninteresting things, only uninterested people'. Now, in fact atheism of itself is not particularly interesting. No more than not playing football s interesting. People are interested in what they do, rather than what they don't do. On the two atheist meet - ups I attended, I was struck by how little anyone was inclined to talk about atheism, or even religion. But then, on the few occasions I attended a religious Christmas meet - up because I went along to oblige a relative, they didn't talk about religion, either. People have other interests.
But that is not the same as being why we should 'drop it'. When we hear no more from religion, its' doctrines and Dogmas, it's preaching and hectoring and it's influence and exploitation, then you will hear no more from atheists.

Re: Should I become an atheist and why?
Post #58So boring that a great number of theists can't stop talking about it. Odd, isn't it? Of course if they accepted what it actually is, there wouldn't be much to talk about:
T - Do you believe in god/gods?
A - Nope.
T - (silence)
A - (silence)

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

Post #59Atheism has cocaine and hookers, among other hedonist delights. That's the opposite of boring.
