Should I become an atheist and why?

What are the benefits, practices, beliefs? Any good conversion stories?

(Edit right there at "note" cause it means it something different than "not")
I note you refer to folks who might be moving from theism to atheism, but add my perspective anyway...

I don't "discredit" what evidence one presents for theism near as much as I reject their conclusions regarding that evidence. May be an apples and oranges thing, but I felt compelled to tell it.
Sadly, so many do not, and simply carry there disappointment with them for the rest of their days, and into their next experience after their bodies die.
I ain't disappointed so much as I ain't among the billionaire class.

My life is quite fulfilling and rewarding here on my little patch of good ol' Georgia red clay. Could be better, could be worse. But the good far about weighs any disappointment I have at not being able to put my feet up on the coffee table when pretty thing's around.

As to experiences after my body dies, I'm unaware of anyone who can show there's any much more to it than to decay.

Atheism has cocaine and hookers, among other hedonist delights.
See, now, hedonism, even if ill-advised, is interesting. Atheism is just boring.

So boring that a great number of theists can't stop talking about it. Odd, isn't it?
What many here seem to be interested in talking about is what atheism used to be -- the claim that God doesn't exist. Which, if not exactly the most interesting idea, was at least worth discussing. Now we're told that all of these atheist books, societies, and get-togethers are really just devoted to a mental condition, which is not only boring, but kinda sad.

Of course if they accepted what it actually is, there wouldn't be much to talk about
See, boring.

Now, in fact atheism of itself is not particularly interesting. No more than not playing football s interesting.
Exactly. B-O-R-I-N-G.

Sure you can. The earliest Greek hedonistic school, the Cyrenaics, believed in the gods.

Moreover, to even say "Atheism has cocaine and hookers" is to associate something with the One True Definition of Atheism™, which is shirk on this board, and will no doubt get you in trouble with the Language Police here. I await your scolding.

I'm just saying, we don't have us a lot of theists here carrying on about the virtues of hookers and blow.

You said Atheism was "boring". That's the goofiest, most misguided statement I think this site has ever produced.

Just own it. Being wrong ain't a sin.

I guess not a lot of people here are big on exploiting vulnerable women for male sexual pleasure.

Yes, and some atheists here agreed with me that atheism just isn't interesting.

Kinda like how some theists claim they got them a loving God.

There'll be outliers in nigh on every bunch.

Aside that you have misunderstood (deliberately, I reckon) the point I was was making, and that being boring is NOT why (as the video suggested) we should stop doing it, it doesn't matter that it's boring. It's like doing the laundry or doing basic shopping or going to work. It is rather boring, but it is something that has to be done.

Bottom line - this is just another cheap and dishonest effort at an atheist -bash and, as such, it fails.
