Re: 20 Terrible Ideas from the New Testament
Post #131Please answer the question. Where is the evidence that an angel spoke through the serpent?
George Orwell:: “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.”
Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."
Gender ideology is anti-science, anti truth.

Re: 20 Terrible Ideas from the New Testament
Post #132Making it us as they go along indeed. I already covered this in another thread - 'The Bible must be true, so it happened some way'. Make up some possible Explanations, even if they contradict nature, the Bible and the case being made (e.g Even just imagined the snake was talking).
And I'm being drawn towards - not the What, as the case for Bibletruth is dead, but the believers keep kicking the cage 'Look it moved!' but the thinking which covers the apologetics; the 'How' (1) and the Why, which is the nature of religious thinking, Theist and cult - think, human reasoning (which it too often isn't) and tribalism and the biology of human thought. I know What they do and how they do it, but I'm still fascinated by Why.
(1) which includes making stuff up, the ghost Bible, inverted logic, fiddled science (e.g IC and ID - such as DNA codes and odds against complexity) alternative history (it wasn't so long ago Dainiken's Atlantean theory was adapted to get Ziggurat building into ancient America) far fetched possibilities being as valid as the ones that fit the evidence best, Interpretation, special pleading, projection and logical fallacies. And that's just the halfway honest stuff.

Post #133Your reasoning is terribly faulty. I would like to un-subscribe from your newsletter.
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.
I blame man for codifying those rules into a book which allowed superstitious people to perpetuate a barbaric practice. Rules that must be followed or face an invisible beings wrath. - KenRU

Post #134DID A SERPENT (A SNAKE) LITERALLY SPEAK TO EVE ?
The bible evidence indicates not.
It thus seems reasonable to deduce that Eve communicated with an unseen spirit creature that merely used a snake (much like a ventriloquist uses a dummy) to project his voice and make it apoear as if the snake was "speaking".

The bible evidence indicates not.
1. According to scripture , God only created two types of intelligent beings namely humans and spirits (invisible spirit beings, such as angels) - (Gen 1:26 compare 2 Peter 2:12a)
2. While animals can communicate on a very basic level, the bible only speaks of humans and angels (spirits) as having the gift of language (1 Corinthians 13:1)
3. On the only other occassion in scripture an animal appeared to "speak" it turned out that there was actually an angel controling matters.(Numbers 22:31, 32)
It thus seems reasonable to deduce that Eve communicated with an unseen spirit creature that merely used a snake (much like a ventriloquist uses a dummy) to project his voice and make it apoear as if the snake was "speaking".

Or it could be a very tall story, like the rest of Genesis. you may make a claim of some supernatural occurrence and argue it out with Bible apologists who have other explanations, but you still have to give a good reason to others, who may doubt, why they should credit your version of the story.

Genesis 3:14 ►
New International Version
So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
I await for you to muddy it up to sow doubt about what otherwise is clear.

Post #139This reads as:Serpents cant speak-thus 1+1= 2
"Where is the evidence that an angel spoke through the serpent?"
kjw47: Serpents cant speak, therefore the serpent spoke.
It's embarrasing, but it is an example of the 'evidence' (barf) we receive when we ask for it.
