We are often admonished by some to not take literally the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden. It is to be understood as a story that represents a deeper truth we are told.
What would it mean if we could go back to the Garden?
What would we gain back that we have somehow lost?

Back to the Garden
Post #1To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

This is an interpretation that fits the story well. Too often, there seems to be little to no connection to the story itself, like the idea of it representing some sort of sexual misconduct.
The only thing I'd point out is that Adam tended the Garden before the fall. The curse brought weeds and thorns which made his work harder. Perhaps though this is a reference to how difficult it is to control which plants grow in a specific patch of land.
If one gathers freely from the land, you wouldn't mind various plants growing around the ones you pick from. If, however, you limit your collection area to a five acre patch, you certainly don't want "wild plants" choking out your chosen crop.

ALL INTELLIGENT BEINGS HAVE THE CAPACITY TO BECOME EVIL?Divine Insight wrote:Was mankind himself not capable of becoming evil on his own?
Indeed the bible says
The text doesnt indicate that the "serpent" as needing anybody to turn him from good to evil. Whether Adam and Eve* would have chosen their course without the input from that one, one can only speculate.JAMES 1:14 - NWT
Each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin
