I would not say 'Lefties' are causing anything, they have been duped as much as the rest of us.

But back in 1972 they had enough reason to believe that weather modification was possible, that they banned research and experiments on 'military' weather modification.

But research is the same for military and civilian projects like nuclear power plants and nuclear bombs. And as we saw when covid gain of function was banned, Anthony Fauci just moved the research from Chapel Hill to Wuhan.

If you want to understand what is going on here, you can read "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky.

Rule 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

Notice how all these people telling Christians how they should act, do not themselves act the way they are demanding. Christians know that these people are wolves in sheep's clothing.

It is interesting that Hillary Clinton's senior thesis was about the views advocated by community organizer Saul Alinsky. Also Barack Obama was a community organizer before he entered politics.

Name-calling and accusations may make a comforting refuge, but they don't change the facts. You can't dump tons of pollutants into the atmosphere year after year without making a significant chemical change to the atmosphere. That's common sense. The plight of the poor is certainly to be addressed, but don't be fooled into believing that letting the fossil fuel industry continue to grind on unchecked is going to do anything for the poor; they're actually the ones hurt the most by the environmental damage.
