I don't know, @HimWithin, but the Bible shows that Jesus is both fully human and all-God, so I believe it.

Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #4Being "divine" essentially means being "with, coming from, or belonging to God" or being "godlike" as in, having the qualities or nature of a deity. In that sense, Jesus was certainly "divine". For those that advocate the idea that Jesus was "divine" in the sense that he was actually Almighty God YHWH himself (or equal in age, authority power or rank ) with God the creator at ANY time in his existence, I daresay they will call that idea a "mystery". Whether they do or not, what I can say is the idea the the human man Jesus was at the same time literally Almighty God YHWH the Creator of the universe, is not scriptural and cannot be properly supported with the bible alone.

Most people agree that Jesus is human, @HimWithin, but the angel's announcement of his birth reveals that he is also God:
Luk 2:10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luk 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
Luk 1:32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,
Luk 1:33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
A "son of the most High" has the same nature as his Father and is divine.
In addition, John is inspired to say that the Word, who has created everything with the Father (God) is God and with God already at the beginning of all creation:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Finally, Jesus' seven "I am" statements are metaphors that all claim that he is God, because he uses the same unusual Greek phrase for "I am" as God uses in the burning bush as his name, for example, making himself David's Shepherd, the LORD:
Joh 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Post #6Intersting, I think those say Jesus is the son of God, not that he is the God.BruceLeiter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2026 6:48 pm ...but the angel's announcement of his birth reveals that he is also God:

Paul uses the same words, is he also the God?BruceLeiter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2026 6:48 pmFinally, Jesus' seven "I am" statements are metaphors that all claim that he is God, because he uses the same unusual Greek phrase for "I am" as God uses in the burning bush as his name
David has two Lords, as shown here:BruceLeiter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2026 6:48 pmfor example, making himself David's Shepherd, the LORD:
Joh 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.” He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’? “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
Matt. 22:41-45 (Ps. 110:1)
But, according to the Bible there is only one true God. So, if Jesus is the one and only true God, who is the other Lord, whose right-side Jesus sats?
If Jesus is the God, and there is only one true God, according to him, how can he say he can do nothing of himself? If he is the God, who is the Father? And how can the Father be greater than Jesus, if Jesus is the God?
Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does like-wise.
John 5:19
Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things. He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I al-ways do the things that are pleasing to him.”
John 8:28-29
This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
John 17:3
the Father is greater than I.
John 14:28

Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #7Bible tells God dwells in Jesus and that Jesus does waht God has commaded him to do. Perhaps that is how he is full of divine.
For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily,
Col. 2:9
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
John 14:10-11
"My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.
John 7:16-17
For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.
John 12:49-50
“Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
John 5:19
“When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things. He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
John 8:28-29
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
John 5:30
... If I don’t do the works of my Father, don’t believe me. But if I do them, though you don’t believe me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”
John 10:34-38

Who else but God has the qualities or nature of a deity?
A human son shares the human nature and the human name of his human father. For those that advocate the idea that Jesus was "divine" in the sense that he was actually Almighty God YHWH himself
A divine Son shares the divine nature and the divine name of His divine Father.
The Father and Son share the same eternal divine nature, making them both equal in age.(or equal in age,
“God is love, and he who lives in love lives in God, and God in him.” (1 JOH 4:16)
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 Joh 4:8)
God is love, and God is eternal, therefore God’s love is eternal.
God’s love requires more than one person to be expressed.
Therefore, more than one person is eternally expressing God’s love, the Father and Son.
All authority power has been given to the Son by His Father.authority power
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Mat 28:18)
“All that belongs to the Father is mine.” (Joh 16:15)
The Son has been exalted by the Father to the rank of the Father.or rank ) with God the creator at ANY time in his existence,
“For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father.” (Joh 5:22-23)
I daresay they will call that idea a "mystery".
Mysteries are made known by God.
"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Col 1:27)
Whether they do or not, what I can say is the idea the the human man Jesus was at the same time literally Almighty God YHWH the Creator of the universe, is not scriptural and cannot be properly supported with the bible alone.
This is what the OP’s question is trying to figure out:
How can the human man Jesus be both fully human and fully God as one person?
