As a Christian, what is your primary and/or scriptural motivation for doing whatever is necessary to help create lasting peace on earth and planet-wide environmental health?
I have asked similar questions before but I honestly don't understand the fundamental motivation for action on such topics if armagedon is going to erase everything anyhow. If I believed in a happy afterlife, this current life would have less meaning - it would be more transitory. If I believed in armagedon my need for peace on earth would be more regional just to protect current self and family.

Certain ones seem to think that bringing about Armageddon will bring back Jesus.

You cannot personally control all of it, but you can you be part of the solution. Are we not a part of the whole? It is not up to me to create lasting peace on "earth." I can't even get the drug dealers out of the next block.
I took these pictures with my cell phone at a local Christian bookstore. These are best sellers:Armageddon as mentioned in the Bible is an event that is to happen in the future. It's not a goal to prepare for.

I'm glad you don't share these views.
Do you think you have any responsibility to contribute toward peace between nations and cultures? (however you might define your contribution) Do you have any scriptural motivation for it? Could belief in Armageddon affect willingness to sacrifice for peace? Does long term peace and environmental health really matter that much? What scriptural or Christian view supports it?
Note: There are plenty of Christians working very hard toward peace and environmental health. I really am interested in answers to the specifics I have presented here.

I have read many of your posts and you obviously have a heart and compassion. However, do you ever consider that your "Religion" is nothing more than something you have decided to accept based upon where you were born and by who you were raised and that others with different belief systems are equally based upon nothing more than ethnicity and geography.???
I think the message of Jesus is for us to give up our dogma and ritual and self righteous idea that anyone is part of a clan of "chosen people"....and to just have faith...an all abiding trust in God and the common sense justice of the universe...and go thru our lives helping as we can regardless of religious indoctrination.....
I was at a resort recently and saw several muslim familys enjoying time away with their families and children...I couldn't help but be overcome with the sadness that most of the others there were Christian and that each sect was teaching the other that they were 'chosen and special to God' and that others were not ....it seems such a shame that we adopt such concocted belief systems and rituals that do nothing but divide us....Jesus instructed the Religious and self-righteous to 'give it up'.....just have faith and be kind and tolerant to all .....just going to Church gives me a bad feeling...it is wrong and evil....
as John Lennon said ...."Imagine no Religion, it's easy if you try"
as Don Henley said......."all this fighting over who will be anointed, Oh how can people be so blind?"
these lyrics from these rock stars are more important than anything Paul came up with...in my humble opinion.

He makes noise til others hear...then its a group effort. A difference? Different from the way it was or something better? Or something worse? I have no illusions about making a difference.
Armageddon as mentioned in the Bible is an event that is to happen in the future. It's not a goal to prepare for.
My responsibility is to be me and who I am. If it contributes to the cause, then its becasue thats the way I am, not what i pretend to impact. If I carried a sign for Jesus I would only be carrying a sign for Jesus. Pointless.Do you think you have any responsibility to contribute toward peace between nations and cultures?
None.(however you might define your contribution) Do you have any scriptural motivation for it?
Only if a person thinks they need to do things for God in order for Him to accomplish His will.Could belief in Armageddon affect willingness to sacrifice for peace?

As long as the earth is here, of course it matters. It's not likley achievable unless someone wants to start a plan like Hitlers and elimate all the "undesirables."

No, you didn't make that claim. However, I see that as a false claim , leading to a false God.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?
