About myself:
I was raised as an Episcopalian.
I am an internet communist, which is a sort of crippled and mentally damaged version of a communist. However within the next year, I'm hoping to make the rare ascension to communist. (most communists can only be found in their natural habitat, which include rallies and Smashing Capitalism parties, while most internet communists never leave the internet)
I am 17 years old and male.
I believe in the truth and use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) theory as a tool in understanding other people's thoughts and motivations. I am an INTP.
It's been a while sense I've really discussed things with religious people, and I like to try to understand the other sides of things.
If there's any questions I'll answer them. In fact I like questions.

I am going to guess he used FidelCastro because he is communist.otseng wrote:Welcome to the forum. OK, here's one question, could you explain the choice of your username?
Castro would be our closest communist that has been pretty much ignored and if we had sided with the poor instead of the rich we might have helped.
Hartshorne calls communism a Christian heresy. We do have communist in this country called Hutterites. With my Mennonite leanings I would probably join them if I was going to be one.

Welcome to the forum Fidel. Congratulations on overcoming religious upbringing. Perahps your other ideologies will also modify with maturity.
I was over fifty years old when you were born -- and could, theoretically, be old enough to be your great grandfather (but still bench 250). Some attempt was made to raise me as a Catholic -- but I rejected the plan quite early. During college years, one of my great friends and a mentor was an Episcopal chaplain -- a fine influence in matters aside from supernatural beliefs.
How do you define communism as you use the term -- and what attracts you to that economic system?
I am vaguely familiar with MBTI:

What prompts you to make that a central part of your introduction? The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality questionnaire designed to identify certain psychological differences according to the typological theories of Carl Gustav Jung as published in his 1921 book Psychological Types (English edition, 1923). The original developers of the indicator were Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, who initially created the indicator during World War II, believing that a knowledge of personality preferences would help women who were entering the industrial workforce for the first time identify the sort of war-time jobs where they would be "most comfortable and effective."
While many academic psychologists have criticized the indicator in research literature, claiming that it "lacks convincing validity data," proponents and sellers of the test cite unblinded anecdotal predictions of individual behavior.

Cathars is about right. I wouldn't say my personality is the same as his, although there are a few things I can indentify with, like wanting personal time. He used to walk around Havana by himself before the assasination attempts started. It's more that I admire his accomplishments, and his ability to say things in such an eloquent way.Welcome to the forum. OK, here's one question, could you explain the choice of your username?
I'm a bit of an enthusiast. Usually one of the first things I do when I meet someone is to try to figure out what "quadrant" they're in, and make a guess at their type. (NT, NF, SP, SJ) I've found that keeping this in mind has helped be to communicate, relate with, and understand other people. Espicially SJs.
What prompts you to make that a central part of your introduction?
Some people object to "putting people in boxes," but it's really not a box so much as a base. People are more than their type, but not less.
Of course there's also the intensity of the preferences to account, but the quadrants hold true.

Forgot to answer this... okay, I doubt this will mean anything to you unless you're familiar with leftists, but I'm more of a Marxist-Leninist than anything else. That has more to do with my conception of socialism though. How do you define communism as you use the term -- and what attracts you to that economic system?
I define communism as Marxists define it- the stage of economic development where there are no longer any classes, the government has whithered away, and people can work "according to their abilities" and recieve "according to their needs."
