Since most of the world has no clue why God created a man and a woman, it sadly has to be explained to them.
Aside from the obvious design of a man and a woman whose sexual attraction leads to children, the marriage covenant between a man and a woman is a copy of our union and relationship with God in our covenant with Him. All over the bible, God refers to adultery as unfaithfulness to our covenant with Him by turning away from Him and worshiping other gods or created things as well as infidelity between a man and a woman that breaks their marriage covenant. The sexual union between a man and a woman is also a copy of God's Spirit inside the true believer as Ephesians 5:31 and 1 Corinthians 6:16 explain.
God also describes Judah and Jerusalem as women in Ezekiel 16 because God's chosen are the "bride" of Christ. So a bride is clearly a woman in God's design.
That is why God values the sexual relationship between a man and a woman in the covenant of marriage so highly because it directly correlates to our relationship with Him in our covenant with Him. So homosexuality isn't just a sexual preference. It is a deliberate rejection of God's design and a slap in the face to His creation. So it's a rebellious action with the intent purpose of being contemptuous of God and His creation. And that is why God considers homosexuality an abomination to Him and His beautiful design for creation.
So no one is doing homosexuals any favors by encouraging them to insult God which leads them straight on the path to hell. It's bad enough when the secular world has such little regard for homosexuals, but when people who claim to be Christians try to justify their rebellious and sinful actions, they are doing the greatest dis-service to homosexuals, as well as showing contempt for God and His design for His creation.

Post #21God has given us a book which reveals his will for us. As long as we stick to what the book says and avoid bringing in our own opinions we can speak for God.McCulloch wrote:[]And I am tired of hearing humans declaring that they can speak for God. Where do you get off claiming that you know what God wants? I find the attitude that you know what God wants contemptible and arrogant.
You say that it is arrogant to claim to know what God wants. Isn't it equally arrogant to claim that it is impossible to know what God wants?

Post #22Well, it is arrogant to say that the book you just so happen to follow was give to us by god.Samwise wrote:God has given us a book which reveals his will for us. The Muslims make the same claim for the Koran you know.
Can you prove that the book you follow is 'from god'? If not, then it is not arrogant to claim that it is impossible to know what God wants
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

I will simply point out that many Christians, including Kayky and I, disagree with Carico's opinions and biblical interpretation. The Bible allows that believers can disagree with each other and still be in good standing with Christ. See, for example, Romans chapter 14.
However, with respect to the law of the land, in a country which respects religious freedom, it is entirely inappropriate for Carico and others to impose their religious views on the entire population by enacting laws which have the sole intent and effect of establishing a particular religious view. Bans on gay marriage are simply unconstitutional.
Sin is a matter between each individual believer and God. It is not appropriate to legislate based on the concept of sin. This again would be unconstitutional.
Now, I am happy to engage in a debate regarding whether we should, as Christians, consider homosexuality or homosexual sex in general as sinful.
I am also happy to engage in a legal discussion regarding gay marriage.
But we need to remember these are two different discussions. I would allow it is possible to make a case that homosexuality should be considered sinful based on the Bible, but I think you can also make a contrary biblical case.
There is really almost no rational case that can be made, in my view, for legal sanctions against homosexuality or bans on gay marriage. The relgious justifications for these go against the first amendment. The non-religious rationale I have seen suffer from grave problems because they seek to restrict freedom for gays for reasons that have not been found sufficient to restrict the freedoms of heterosexuals. Thus, they violate the equal protection clause (14th amendment, I believe).
