  • ". . . there's a poll at the team website.

Should the JackHammers take down the current I-80 billboard?

    56%: yes
    44%: no"

    source
So, how would you vote, and why?

I don't personally see why they can't. There have been plenty of humorous advertisements which poke humor at religions. In fact, I recall watching one the other day from a soft drink company called K-Fee dealing with the disruption of Buddhist meditation (I recommend you don't watch it if you're easily jumpy).

The only reason I believe people are getting offended by the sign is because it makes God appear as a marketing product. But if a seafood company can make a commercial about rabbis, and a beverage company can make a commercial on Buddhism, then why can't a baseball team have an advertisement with a silly fake quote with nothing vulgar or blasphemous?

but the belief in god is MUCH stronger than in the belief of Santa.
only children believe in Santa, and they dont usually have any 'purchasing power'
Indeed the children don't themselves have purchasing power, but children are even more easily influenced by adults, and adult toy purchasing in most influenced by, you guessed it, their children. If you use Santa clause to make a child want a toy, they are gonna beg their parents for it, and then their parents will buy it.

Yes, parents have the checkbook, but when you are selling toys, its the kids you want to influence to want your toy.
We do not hate others because of the flaws in their souls, we hate them because of the flaws in our own.

You have underestimated grown men's, and women's ability to belive, there are some people who believe in santa clause far longer than others do, and some of them are as or more rational than your typical christian.

I am going to college to be a science teacher, was a member of the debate team, and chess club, have frequented websites like this, and both me, and every counseler i've been to believe that I am a perfectly sane individual...

yet I belive in aliens, werewolves, magic, curses, blessings, hexes, mystic potions, ghosts, spirits, sasquatch, dryads, nature spirits, alchemy, the magical properties of herbs, and stones, and.. well I could go on, but you get the picture.

Also God says: "I can has cheeseburger?" haha.
