Christ has returned!

Post by DanieltheDragon »

It is presumed Jesus will return to earth the time and date is not known and the prophesies around this return are well rather vague. However, it appears Jesus has already returned. During the mid 1700's in the American colonies Ann Lee became the first second coming of Christ and was the founder of the Shaker movement.
The followers of Mother Ann came to believe that she embodied all the perfections of God in female form,[12] and was revealed as the "second coming" of Christ.[13] The fact that Ann Lee was considered to be Christ's female counterpart was unique. She preached that sinfulness could be avoided by not only treating men and women equally, but also by keeping them separated so as to prevent any sort of temptation leading to impure acts. Celibacy and confession of sin were essential for salvation

The world couldn't wait long though and the second second coming of christ was found in John Nichols Thom. In 1834 his movement began after being released from an Asylum he fought against the poor laws of england at the time and had gathered a peaceful group of workers to rally against the new laws. He would be a martyr for his cause after it turned violent with Thom shooting two men dead.

Well since that didn't work it looks like Jesus tried again
Arnold Potter (1804"1872), Schismatic Latter Day Saint leader; he claimed the spirit of Jesus Christ entered into his body and he became "Potter Christ" Son of the living God. He died in an attempt to "ascend into heaven" by jumping off a cliff. His body was later retrieved and buried by his followers
Looks like God didn't want the netherlands to be left out so Lou de Palingboer became Jesus incarnate to spread the good word to the heathens of the netherlands.

It seems as time has gone on more and more the need for christ to return has become imperative. The 1900's saw a return of Christ factor unheard of outpacing the returns of 1700-1900. The 21st century is off to an even hotter start.

Questions for debate:

Has Christ returned?

Can any of these claims be falsified?

Is the evidence for their claims stronger or weaker than the original claims for Christ?

Why do people disregard these returns as cult worship?

Nah he hasn't returned yet.
When he does there'll be NO DOUBT because he'll arrive with "power and glory" (Matt 24:31) and be seen over the whole earth.
Better make sure our camcorders are charged up, it should be quite a show..:)

Power and glory all these people possessed as they had the love and adherence of a group of followers. They are also now seen all over the face of this earth thanks to the internet.

You see that's the thing...
If a messiah were real, and fulfilled any or all of the prophecies, everyone would be too cagey to believe it.

We can only believe if it happened in the past, or in make-believe.

Sad, but true.

The very fact that we can debate whether or not Christ has returned or not is proof the He has not returned.

Like He said, where the body is the eagles will gather. If you don't see eagles circling in the desert there's no body out there.

If its true it will be obvious to all.

Good reasoning, except that we can debate if he were ever here in the first place.

Who was it who the 5 million population of Israel and the Roman garrison saw strutting his stuff for 3 long years?
"Large crowds from Galilee, the Ten Cities, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him" (Matt 4:25)
Heck he was almost as big as Elvis, right Elv?

"Uh-huh.."

5,000,000 people saw this? If we accept a literacy rate of 1% and half of that could write leaving us at .5% that would leave 25,000 contemporary witnesses who could have wrote something about him yet surprisingly none did. I guess large crowds is rather subjective ain't it? I mean a large crowd could be 5 or it could be 100.

If mormonism is true, than Christ technically has returned and in the time of the same generation too! It was only just a returning to the world in another continent which still fullfills his promise of returning within 40 years.

Do you see now that mormonism must be true or else the bible tells false things and Christ is a liar ?

I think the scope of Mormonism is far larger than that of traditional Christianity so sure why not. If Christ could return once why not more than once or simultaneously in multiple incarnations?
