Amish forgiveness and beliefs

Post by rene »

In the events that took place in PA recently, much was learned of the Amish, that I, for one, never knew.
The concept of forgivess, at the depth that they appear to display, is humbling.
My question, thought, is that some of the actions taken by the teacher and the aftermath give me pause.
If someone is truly familiar with the religion, please answer this for me:
A. if they do not believe in the use of electricity, because it connects them with the OUTSIDERS- why were and are the children who survived, put on life support- and not just prayed over?
B. Why did the teacher run to a PHONE to call 911- not go to an AMISH farm and get some men to help?

By both of these actions- unless religion cannot come into play when children shot are involved- they clearly embraced the OUTSIDERS ways- not being true to their own proclaimed absence from the phones and electricity of the world??

To me, if they are so believing, prayer alone would have been used, and life or death to the will of GOD.

Please give me toughts that are religion based.
Thank you

And of course you are assuming that the teacher was Amish. Moreover you are also assuming that telephones and EMC are not just as much sacraments of God as prayer and anointing.

Amish beliefs

I see that the only way I will get answers to my questions on the faith, and what I see are contradictions, is to go directly to the Amish country and ask them personally- so I will. I see so many contradictions- this is a religious way that is secret,so, of course I , as an inquisitive person want to know.
I just see such contradiction in avoiding electricity, phones, flying but when it was needed it was OK. What is bad about indoor toilets?? Are the children clean, is it sanitary? We can all do that- they also do not pay taxes but used the services. Are they billed? What is so wrong with questioning why they can do all this and the rest of us are paying??
