Shunning

Post by Elijah John »

Which groups and/or denominations practice "shunning"?

What other names mean the same thing? (disfellowship-ing etc.)

When can shunning be justified, if ever? Why?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

From the OP:

Humans, the pretty thing, and her cats.

Humans when it is you do you something they ain't proud of, the pretty thing when you hear her say, "dadgummit Joey you done stepped in it again and I ain't a-pullin' you out of it this time", and her cats when you sit there being you.
What other names mean the same thing? (disfellowship-ing etc.)
Jail, prison, "dadgummit Joey you're stupider'n what you just stepped in", "meow". "Voted for that'n there I didn't".
When can shunning be justified, if ever? Why?
When you need you some of it, or you've met you the pretty thing's cats.

But really, I find it quite cumbersome that folks'd shun folks on their own opinion regarding the opinion of a god they can't show exists to even have him an opinion they can't show he does.

Such folks'd just well be cats.
I might be Teddy Roosevelt, but I ain't.

I can sympathise completely with this piece of Scriptural truth, Joey. Experience is a good teacher.

You plant a power of wisdom in humour. An examination of why people shun others, which goes counter to anything Christ said, will tell us a lot. If you want to see if a tree is good or bad take a look at the fruit that comes from the tree.

Misery, unhappiness, split families - bad fruit. Good intentions - if that's what they are - count for little. The road to hell is paved with them.
