Here is a theory about God everyone can agree on and prove.

God died sometime after 1480, he was slain by the combined forces of Death and Satan, whom he threatened to overcome.

These two powerful and subtle forces ensured God was the cause of his own destruction. He never even saw it coming.

Now, why we can all agree on this is:
1. There have been no miracles since Joan of Arc.
2. We can now all agree God does not exist.
3. Death still persists, unvanquished.
4. Evil still exists.
5. This fits all available data.

Am I wrong?

Pinman, there are good arguments for God being alive in Biblical times.
But he declared war on two powerful and subtle forces, that still exist.

It is on you to demonstrate God still lives.
It should be easy: I mean if you ask me to prove something I believe in, the Statue of Liberty, the Sun, heck even neutrinos, I can show theoretical and observable evidence demonstrating so.

You just need to do the same.
Or concede God 10,000 BCE ~ 1480 AD, nobly challenges death and Satan but was defeated by them. RIP.

And what are those forces, Willbro? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking you to clarify.

No, it's really not. Two things I would say in reply to this:
1. God will prove himself in the fullness of time.
2. Actually, every one (believer and non-believer alike) and every thing proves Him over and over and over again, every single day.

The two forces - are in the topic and repeated many times throughout. If you can't read a simple topic, your credibility drops enormously.

So, despite your bon mots, you agree, you have no proof God is not dead. I mean for what you have, you could make the same claim about King Arthur or Winston Churchill, right?

Is there anything in the topic that is disagreeable?

Death and Satan. Sure. I just wanted you to repeat them. Kind of a clearing of the slate, or a fresh start, if you will. You're quite the prickly fellow. Unfortunate.

No, I have all the proof in the world. You yourself are a small part of it. As am I.

And, so we agree to disagree.

But you have nothing but words and air to make your point.
Not good enough I am afraid.

With no physically measurable evidence for God, no recent miracles or acts to see, nothing at all, you must concede we simply are living with the corpse of God. Since death and evil still about, it is a poor sort of corpse.

He once existed, but no longer does.
It is sad, he was obviously a noble creature.

So, are you words? Or are you air? Or are you both, maybe? Interesting.

Not good enough for you. Yeah, I get it.

I have conceded that the miracles were true.
I have made allowance for Joan of Arc being a miracle.
In other words I am conceding the Judeo-Christian story entirely.

But simply noticed that God was slain to account for the current state of the world.
If you cannot provide any demonstrable evidence to the contrary, the mature thing to do is to concede, that God was, but is no more.

Unless there is a single reason to believe contrarily. I don't think there is.
I mean aside from some people really really wanting it to be different.

Deus est mortuus. Causa nobilior est suo perdidit orbis terrarum.

You mean whenever you think something is dumb enough to laugh at. Well, now, that's against board rules, as far as I know. In addition to being an ass. Which we can all be from time to time, but of course that doesn't make it okay or acceptable. But yeah, I getcha.

Oh, so I'm an ass for laughing at another post? I wonder who got into trouble for laughing at a post.

And many people claim the Earth is flat or that flying saucers have been seen. So?

And does the Bible say love is God? If so, you are right in your conclusion, if the Bible is right.

You believe you are immortal then? Death has continued in its weary way even though Jesus conquered it. Strange.

No, for dismissing something someone says as "dumb." In which case you indirectly dismiss the person who said that as "dumb." No one said you were an ass. What I said was you were acting like an ass. Which seems to be an oft-repeating pattern, but still doesn't necessarily mean you're an ass. Are you saying you are?

Yeah, the mod mis-read that as me laughing at the poster. Or even his post. I was just laughing at what I perceived to be an attempt at humor. This doesn't mean I'm an ass; it means I (possibly) misunderstood his intentions.
