Faith comes by hearing, but where does hearing come from?

Here is a clue….

Proverbs 20:12
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them.

God made all things BY His Word

John 1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

So with that knowledge we now know where the hearing ear comes from.

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Peace and God bless

So just as God can make the hearing ear and the seeing eye, God can also make some deaf and blind.

But of course I am speaking of spiritual things not natural things.

Notice what Moses said to the rebellious children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 29:4
Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

So the ears to hear Gods words, and the eyes to see the things of the Spirit must be given to you by God. But God can also harden peoples hearts to where they will not receive, perceive, or understand what the Spirit is saying in Gods words.

Notice what God says to Isaiah…
Isaiah 6:9-10
King James Version
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

Jesus repeats this prophecy…

Matthew 13:13-15
King James Version
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.“

So not all are given ears to hear what the Spirit is saying in Gods words. This is why Jesus said…

Matthew 11:15
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 13:9
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Peace

Yes, I believe not all are given ears to hear what the Spirit is saying because God knows who are His people. 2Tim 2:19. And God knows our heart. Jer 17:9.

God foreknown everything;
Matthew 13:17
For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.(ESV)
