What is evolution and how do we know it's right?

This thread was started in response to HaLi, to talk about what the Theory of Evolution (ToE) is and how science knows that it is correct.

Depends which book you are talking about. You are not making that clear.

I was indoctrinated into believing in Darwinism by reading books myself. It took more than one book to emancipate me from the dogmatic doctrines of Darwinism.

I read up on creation science and Christian Reconstruction and decided to throw in my lot with men of God rather than apemen. Been reading books for over 50 years now and you have to make up your mind sometime.

My thinking started to change as I turned 50 after a series of devasting setbacks in my personal life. I had previously thought that changing my thinking to thinking like a Christian would be as natural as thinking like a Darwinist or Marxist but finally had to admit that it was the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit after reading up on Christian doctrine and Christian psychology. I think the human mind, being the seat of consciousness, is supernatural itself since the concept of a self-conscious, self-effacing and moralizing brain seems ridiculous to me.

None the less, are you willing to accept that some Muslims acceps evolution and have no problem with referring to themselves as apes, nor find it offensive when others refer to them as apes?

There is no doubt about the fact that some Muslims go along with evolutionary ideology and psychology up to a certain point but I am am not certain that they have thought through the implications of such atheistic beliefs or that they do not have a problem with referring to themselves as apes or finding it offensive when others refer to them, Prophet Muhammed and other Muslims as apes. Does your part-time British Imam have no problem believing in an atheistic belief system or with referring to himself and Prophet Muhammed as apes or finding it offensive when others refer to him, other Muslims and Prophet Muhammed as apes? You can quote him at length if you like.
