It is part of the Christian "doctrine" and I believe it as such. Do you want the verses? I didn't say I believed it before I became a Christian although I may have wanted it. Who doesn't consider "peace and salvation" meaningful?help3434 wrote: [Replying to post 97 by YahDough]
Why did you believe that the concept of peace and salvation through God was meaningful before you became a Christian?

I don't see the need for 'salvation'?? Salvation from what?
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Well, why do you need it? You either have everlasting death or you don't. I don't see any evidence that ANYBODY escapes 'everlasting death'. And I don't see seeking this Christian concept of salvation is needed to escape it.YahDough wrote:Eternal/everlasting death.Goat wrote:YahDough wrote:It is part of the Christian "doctrine" and I believe it as such. It's sort of like a snake oil cure, for a disease that is totally fictional

For me, the "hope" of salvation came before believing that it could/would be possible through Christ.help3434 wrote: [Replying to post 103 by YahDough]
Why would you believe that salvation is even a real thing if you were not yet a Christian?

I was indoctronated into it from birth. I was given no other options. Jesus and the bible was taught as fact along with everything else you learn as a small child. There was no difference between the teaching that Jesus was the one true God and 1 + 1 = 2.
At 7years old I fully beleived in Jesus and believed that I needed to give my life to Christ. I continued to believe without question and as a teenager began to grab the bull by the horns" as it were, serving God because I desired to (I genuinely believed in and loved Jesus) not just because my parents expected me to.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Were you born again and baptised with the Holy Ghost at 7?At 7years old I fully beleived in Jesus and believed that I needed to give my life to Christ. And exactly what doctrines was I taught that you believe weren't accurate?YahDough wrote:

Before you answer that this world is full of Christians who believe that their doctrines are the correct ones while every other denominations are wrong. If you try to tell me that you are from that one denomination that has 100% correct doctrines then there's no way I can take you seriously.
It was definitely not hard to walk with God. It was very easy, because I believed in Jesus without question. I had the pure faith of a child, which Jesus said is what we should have.
Of course! When you are born again you automatically recieve the holy ghost. The bible tells us that. But if you want to come at it from a pentecostal perspective, I was part of a pentecostal church in my early 13s that taught being baptised in the holy spirit was something special that needed to be done on top of being born again and yes I did officially get "baptised in the holy spirit" around that age as once again I was indoctronated to believe it was necessary.YahDough wrote:

I know where you're going with this as I've seen it many times before on sites like this and others. You're going to try to claim I wasn't a true Christian. yeah yeah yeah, whatever!
