JWs consider God's Kingdom to be a Government

Post by JehovahsWitness »

Jehovah's Witnesses believe God's Kingdom for which many Christians have prayed throughout the ages to be a (heavenly) government (three words).

What, in three or four words if possible, do you believe it to be?

(Many Christians I have met have said its "A feeling" (in one's heart).

It is quite a cop-out for someone to say, "Yeah the Bible says thus and so, but I'm going to look at the culture." Then they go on to describe the culture as something that it wasn't! "Primitive" some people say? And a God that was easily angered & just waiting to punish? The Israelites were neither primitive nor was God encumbered with a hair-trigger temper. Your view of both Jewish culture AND God is, unfortunately, not based on facts at all.

How did Jesus make it "very clear" that his coming had nothing to do with setting up an earthly kingdom?

Also, Jesus never CONTRADICTED the Old Testament. He just embellished it, gave it more meaning. Many times he was not referring to the O.T. at all, but the writings of the rabbis...the Talmud. Those things he would contradict. The Talmud was not from God. And Jesus never broke God's laws. Not once. He did break some laws that the Jews dreamed up themselves, beyond God's laws. They prohibited someone to eat a meal unless they had washed their hands up to their ELBOWS. This was never a law from God. But the Jewish religious leaders condemned Jesus and his disciples for not doing so.

A person had best do research before making statements such as you have, and not take the word of some Sunday School teacher or even a pastor.

And you didn't answer how Revelation has already been fulfilled and yet Satan, death, suffering and tears of sorrow are still here. If Revelation has already been fulfilled, then those things would not still exist.

.
I understand that you do not like my observations. But simply saying that my comments are untrue because they don't jibe with your preconceptions or making assumptions about my degree of study in this area is hardly a basis for a counter argument.

Fair enough. In my experience most nomianal Christian have difficulty explaining the kingdom because they have never been taught properly what it is. You have, I'm sure done your best.

Peace out,

JW

# QUESTION: What is God's Kingdom and how will it prove a blessing for mankind?

God's kingdom is a govenemental system of rulership made up of Jesus and his faithful co-rulers (see Rev20:6).

Image

This govenment will soon destroy all forms of human rulership and replace manmade governments with one world government (see Dan 2:44). This world government, located in heaven and headed by Jesus himself (Isaiah 9:6) it will elimnate all world problems such as hunger, war, injustice, pollution... and ensure that those that yearn for peace and security can live on this our planet earth under the conditions all righteous hearted people long for (compare Is 65: 22; Rev 21: 3,4). Christians pray for the kingdom to "come" because the full blessings of that rule are yet in the future.

NOTE: Although Christians love the kingdom with all their hearts, God's kingdom is NOT merely a "feeling within them".

Your statement seems to imply that "God's kingdom is" now in existence and "will soon" act in a certain way.

If so, where is it today and what is it now doing? If not, why not?

Jesus said much about the kingdom in the Gospels.

Why does your explanation not incorporate or cite how he explained what the kingdom is like?

What kingdom is this that "Christians love"?

To say "God's kingdom is NOT merely" something is to say God's kingdom includes that something but is more than that something.

Just who are "nominal Christian", as you see them? And what Christian, if any, is not "nominal", but instead is ..[what]?

Who has, in your view, "been taught properly", and who were their teachers?

Except did Jesus not promise to return in judgement of the earth to reward the "sheep" and punish the goats? Have the meek already inherited the earth?

I believe both the sheep and the goats reside inside us. When we allow the Spirit to work in our lives, we recognize the difference between the two and can act accordingly.

Has Jesus returned with all the angels to condemn the goats to eternal destruction? and bless the sheep with everlasting life?
It's never going to happen like that, JW. You are reading these passages too literally. That's not how they are meant to be read.

It WILL kayky. It's a promise from God, it's his original purpose for this planet earth and God's word cannot fail. You can take that to the bank!

You are not reading these passages literally enough. That's exactly how they are meant to be read.
