Names have their own meaning, and there is often a specific reason a parent has for choosing one for a newborn child they have.
In the Bible, a name may be changed to more accurately reflect a new situation.
What can we learn from the use and meaning of personal names in scripture?
What's in a name?

And I think we agree that "Yahweh" is also derived from the very same Tetragrammaton. And we agree that at least Jesus understood what YHVH meant. But I wonder if Jesus followed the Rabbinic prohibition against pronouncing the Divine name?onewithhim wrote: Jesus DID emphasize his Father's name---Jehovah. He spoke it every time he quoted from the O.T. He would not have left it out if it appeared in a scripture. He also said that he made his Father's name known and would continue to make it known (John 17:6,26).
Where is the verse found that you quoted? Who is "the Lord" that speaks that verse?
If that were the case, "hallowed be thy name" was implied but not pronounced in the hallowing.
Not sure what to make of the John references, but I wonder if when Jesus was rebuking Satan, he didn't say "It is written, worship Adonai (understood to be YHVH) your God and him only serve"?
My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Yes David knew God's name and used it but not the name Yahweh or Jehovah.Elijah John wrote:Do you then suppose that King David understood the name to be "Father" when he implored "Give thanks to the name of the LORD", etc. etc.Prince wrote:Of course it is the same name but not the name you think.Elijah John wrote: And Jesus taught us to "hallow" the name of the Father...do you think they were speaking of two different names?
All of Gods children know His name. Only Gods children know His name.

I have t o ask.....why would Jesus follow the silly prohibition of refusing to pronounce his Father's name? It's not even reasonable. And didn't he put the Jewish religious leaders in their place time and time again? He called them hypocrites and sons of vipers and castigated them for teaching "commands of men rather than the commandments of God." (Matthew chapter 23; Mark 7:7,8)Elijah John wrote:And I think we agree that "Yahweh" is also derived from the very same Tetragrammaton. And we agree that at least Jesus understood what YHVH meant. Would you consider yourself one of God's children? If so, will you share with us what God's name is?

Thank you but I cannot glean from your post what God's name is. Will you be willing to type the name out so we can read it?
