When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5

The question is, what is it that the faithful are looking for as their spiritual inheritance?
What was "the new earth" you referred to?Checkpoint wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:35 pm
His commission is to people his kingdom with those who will one day inherit a new heaven and a new earth in which there will be no suffering and death, and in which only righteousness dwells.
JWMATTHEW 6:10 ESV
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #1653I know some versions render the word for "earth" as "land." However you look at it, people are going to live therein forever. How does this fact affect YOU? What do you personally feel about this promise of life forever on earth?Checkpoint wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 5:01 amPsalm 37 I see as an expanded Psalm 1, of the faithful and the faithless, and their destinies.
The faithful "will inherit the earth", as Jesus reiterated in Matthew 5.
Just two points for you to consider.
1) Both the Hebrew and Greek words here translatwd "earth" can equally well be rendered "land", and often are. In which cases usually meaning "land of Israel".
The question is, what is it that the faithful are looking for as their spiritual inheritance?
2) I think these verses are the answer:Hebrews 11:
13 All these people died in faith, without having received the things they were promised. However, they saw them and welcomed them from afar. And they acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
14 Now those who say such things show that they are seeking a country of their own.
15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 Instead, they were longing for a better country, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
And yes, people of old did look forward to a better country, one that is ruled from heaven. They obviously didn't think that they would BE in heaven, since the promise was life on the earth forever.

The 1000 years is of the old order, which will not pass away until Satan does after the millennium.

Post #1655Yes all those judged as being worthy will enjoy being part of the new order in which all things become new. And if it "about earth or heaven as places"* I take it you will refrain from criticizing Jehovah Witnesses who believe many millions will be living on this our planet earth restored to its original paradisaic conditions.Checkpoint wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:49 pm

[*] "about earth or heaven as places" I took to mean it is not of paramount importance where the individuals are located

I will criticize JWs as and when I choose to do so, and will expect them to criticize me as and when they choose to do so.
I too "believe many millions will be living" in the Paradise conditions described as being the new order, as outlined in Revelation 21 and 22.
I also believe, and now reiterate, that...
"The 1000 years is of the old order, which will not pass away until Satan does after the millennium."

It will be wonderful to see human beings all living together in peace regardless of their skin colour. And an earth free of famine, disease and war will be something wonderful to see.
