Judaism, Christianity and Islam dismissed with one meme

Post by Willum »

Journal of Noah, day 12:
We’ve begun eating the dinosaurs to allay our hunger.

With my stomach thus calmed, I revisit the murder of Sephat and his family. I feel bad about killing Sephat, he worked forever building this boat, and was a good friend.
But what Satan commands, I must do.
Now lord Satan has asked me to write the story about how the world came to be and up to now…
I don’t know, I’m just going to make it up.
Topic for debate – God was defeated by Satan everywhere else, is there any way to show this isn’t also true? (According to the religion, that is...)
That Noah was one of the evil hosts that, like Satan in the Garden, or Satan wit Job, he simply instructed one of his people (Noah) to take the place of God's good family.

After all evil survived the flood...

Doesn't the concept that the person surviving the flood being evil and corruptible demonstrate the entire Abrahamic religion is false?

Satan corrupted Eve thus all of creation, defeating God humiliatingly...
Satan led Eve to make a bad choice. By what I see, God created humans to be free. if free people make bad decision, I don't think it means God is defeated.

By what the Bible tells, the goal was to destroy the evil people at that time. And, by what I know, they are destroyed. So, I think God didn’t fail in that.

Where do you get that idea? I don’t think there really is anything in the Bible that supports your claim.

Be that as it may, you keep repeating these things without backing them up.

You also keep avoiding the topic.

Since your mind is good enough for the world, my mind declares the debate over, you lost.
Good talking to you.

I don't think the purpose of the flood was to wipe out evil. Canonically the purpose of the flood seems to be wiping out a world that was unacceptably and almost totally evil. Something similar has also been done to Sodom and Gomorrah.

The way I read it, extremely evil environments prevent people from having a reasonable chance at choosing good. I acknowledge this and God seems to as well. You would be hard-pressed to be born into a world where you'd have to rape and murder and steal to survive, and choose to be good. You might not know what good was. You might not have the concept. At very least, if you originated the concept and acted on it, it would not produce favourable results for you. You might then well think that you were wrong, and this concept wasn't useful and was actually harmful.

The bigger question for me is why these areas are allowed to exist today, though to me this falls under attempting to splice reality and Christian canon which may not be entirely fair to the canon. I'm not being backhanded and saying that it's not fair to try to shoehorn the Christian God into our reality because haha of course he doesn't exist. I'm just saying that 1) even if that particular God doesn't exist in this reality, it might exist in some reality and 2) disproving God, even entirely, wouldn't serve to disprove Christianity from being moral, which, if it is, it wouldn't matter of God exists or not.

Well, that is another interpretation. However, why would he start over with 8 corrupted people, instead of zero and start completely over?

You bring up a good point, but still makes Yahweh an idiot, and also isn’t a better explanation than Noah killed the family Yahweh intended to people the Ark and world.

I would assume because there weren't 8 completely sinless people. I don't know if Noah was a drunk or not, but in my experience people don't drink themselves stupid unless there's a chemical reason for it. Maybe he resisted temptation every single other time, but there had to be that temptation. Some people feel a need to drink. Some don't. Being completely drunk is unpleasant. Anyone who voluntarily puts themself into that state, even once, is imo, an alcoholic in that they have the tendency, even if they never act on it again.

You're committing the Vulcan fallacy, calling someone illogical, or an idiot, or what have you, when the problem isn't their logic at all; it's their valuations. The person in question is acting in accordance with reason to achieve their actual goal, which of course you can still question, but it's not a matter of someone being dumb or acting in a way that harms their goals. For whatever reason, God simply values free will that highly. It doesn't matter to him if the lot of us gouge each other's eyes out and do nothing else so long as that's what we really want and choose. I admit, I don't get it, but if letting people choose is really that valuable, there's no idiocy here, there's just valuations I happen to disagree with.

Personally I'd rather be a moral robot. Take out my free will. I don't want it. But that's just me.

I don't think it is a terribly better explanation within the Christian canon simply because I don't think the real family was 100% sinless anyway, making this murder hypothesis nothing but a vestigial ad hoc. It doesn't change the game.

This makes as much sense as claiming that anyone who once took a puff off a cigarette is a chain smoker. Of course the AA model of "alcoholism" has accounted for ideas like this even though their is zero percent evidence that their model is valid.

Thank you both for your contributions.

Well, I don't see any objections to the topic, and confess I can't even imagine any.
That which can be dismissed with inanity, should be dismissed with inanity.

Who would have thought that religions as old as Judaism and Christianity can be wiped out with a single silly concept.
All the death and evil and lies they perpetrated, one colossal waste...

Asked and answered.

But let’s do this according to protocol.

You answer my inquiry first.
How did evil survive the flood?
