Psalms 37:11
“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”
Is this supposed to be a motivating factor!? Do 'the meek' want to inherit the Earth? Seems it may be more work than it's worth. Unless god 'cleans' up the Earth first (which, with its anger and insecurity issues, it might just do).
For discussion:
What's the benefit of being 'meek' outside of 'planet ownership'?
Do the meek want the Earth?
How does one become and stay 'meek'?
*Thanks to william for the inspiration for the question

Re: Meek*
Post #13Below is the entry in my bible encylopedia ...
Since biblically "meekness" is a mental attitude that combines a number if qualities, one learns (and this is not a claim, just an analysis of the biblical text) ... one learn biblical "meekness" by cultivating or consciously trying to develop the qualities which combine to make meekness; qualities such as humility, submissiveness, mildness, and inner strength. I believe ( and this is nit a claim just a statement of faith based on my own observations) ... I believe one can do this by studying bible examples of men and women that displayed these qualities and applying the lessons learnt from them in our own lives. Essential also from a biblical standpoint is asking Jehovah God (YHWH) for his holy spirit (meekness is one of the 9 fruitages of the spirit).
Staying meek is I believe, possible if one continues to do the above.

MEEKNESS [Gr., pra·yʹtes].
Mildness of temper, without haughtiness or vanity. The mental disposition that enables one to endure injury with patience and without irritation, resentment or vindictive retaliation. It is a close companion of and seldom found separate from such other virtues as humility, lowliness of mind and gentleness. (See HUMILITY.) Whereas gentleness is appropriate as to actions, pra·yʹtes connotes more specifically a condition of the mind and heart.

Re: Meek*
Post #14I presume (correct me if I am wrong) your question is based on the biblical promise that the meek "shall inherit the earth". If so, biblically the anwser would be yes! If (as the bible depicts) God created the earth for humans then (all things being equal) humans are best suited for (and find satisfaction in) life on earth. I believe it would be presumptious of me to claim to have already been judged by God as "meek" but I am striving to be and can wholeheartedly say I would love to be counted amongst those that "inherit the earth" as in live permanently on this our planet free from evil.

Is it an assumption on your part that the earth, once populated by the meek, would be without evil or is there a specific biblical reference? And if so, how would that be possible in there is free will (assuming there would not be a 'free will removal' at that point)?

Re: Meek*
Post #17My thoughts are in line with Psalms 37, in that the "meek"/humble, the righteous, are being patient, and waiting for the hammer to fall on the wicked, who will eventually be destroyed/"cut off". Let them cancel who they will, for as they judge others, so shall they be judged.nobspeople wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 6:37 amI corrected your post above. No was that so hard?!? I mean, really....
Sad that the meek seem so anxious for 'the wicked' to get whacked. You'd think they'd be more compassionate.
Besides that, who is cancelling what? We talkin' TV series or what?

Re: Meek*
Post #19It is the Progressive woke, like the Governor of New York State, CNN Lemon, and Whoopi Goldberg, who cancel the Conservatives, who in the end, get cancelled themselves. Whoopi Goldberg, miss Johnson, who expropriated a Jewish name, is glad to try and cancel anyone who crosses her path. I guess she, like many of the hosts of CNN are on supposedly limited suspension, such as being cancelled. The meek see the hypocrisy of the Progressives, and simply remain silent, knowing that as you judge others, so shall you be judged. As for the "woke" twitter", who cancels any views deviate from their own, is going to be canceled by a rich Libertarian, or he will put them out of business. They have canceled many, yet will in turn be cancelled by one. The owners of twitter are the funds of Wall street, whose fiduciary aim is profits, not woke philosophy. Big Tech, Big Media, and all the Progressives, are looking at being cancelled by the standard that fascism (Antifa) is wrong, but continue on the road to the fascist apposition to free speech. Their futures are built on sand. The Poor Progressive Democrats, who cancel anyone who walks in the door, such as police, are now fleeing the sinking ship, and are not even running for reelection if 2022. Apparently they are awake enough to flee the coming slaughter, but not awake enough to turn from the path of their own destruction. The meek see the coming collapse, and simply sit back, get some popcorn, and watch the coming slaughter of the woke. The "woke", apparently can't help themselves from being more righteous than God himself, and follow their belief to the point of falling on their own swords. It is as bad as the followers of the false prophet Paul, following the wide path to "destruction" (Matthew 7:13). They must all be related to lemmings. If you had actually read Psalms 37, you would have supposedly known this from the beginning.nobspeople wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 1:40 pm2ndpillar2 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 1:22 pmMy thoughts are in line with Psalms 37, in that the "meek"/humble, the righteous, are being patient, and waiting for the hammer to fall on the wicked, who will eventually be destroyed/"cut off".
