This my question:-

If a Christian infant dies, will it automatically gain entry to Heaven?

Heaven is reserved for baptised born again Christians and a baby lacks the intellectual capacity to be either (see John 3:3; Mat 28:19,20)
That is strange Jesus says:-
Mark {9:37} Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: .............................

That seems fairly clear, no?

Not really, perhaps you can in complete sentences explain what you believe was Jesus point.

JW
No! :)
Everybody seems to want to tell what Jesus was thinking, what he really meant, and in this way Jesus can be adjusted to justify just about anything.
Jesus did what he did, said what he said.

Maybe you know where he told that babies had to be baptised? I think that Jesus's disciples were baptising just like the Baptist was........ reddeming hearts and minds for free, without any need to go to the Temple and get fleeced.

Noticing what appears to be a qualifier, "biblically," is their an extra-biblical situation in which babies do go to heaven?

I dont know what other holy books say, which is why I presented the biblical position. (I take it that was appropriate since this subforum is Christianity & Apologetics )

JW
Sure, but it would be better if there was a God that allowed babies into Heaven. That's a better God.

I appreciate you are sharing your opinion. I personally do not agree with you. Saying its better that babies go to heaven is like saying it's better if babies are allowed in go to grad school or it's better babies are allowed to perform heart surgery.
JW
Do you think that the Christian Heaven is a bit like grad school, or like surgery?

Well, I appreciate your speculation, as it appears you believe the souls of babies are still being formed, and not as some argue here, that they are fully formed. It's an interesting guess, with no tangible evidence, but that's religion for ya.

But, would you agree that sending a baby to graduate school would be better than throwing it to a ravenous pack of wolves?

And, I must ask for the evidence that Heaven is in anyway like a graduate school or like performing heart surgery? Or, is this yet another point of dogma that isn't open to question - because it's simply a "belief"?
“And do you think that unto such as you
A maggot-minded, starved, fanatic crew
God gave a secret, and denied it me?
Well, well—what matters it? Believe that, too!”

If he is righteous.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

I think it is possible that infant is not righteous.

Really? I do not believe that at all. Well, as I said earlier ...

I find its always best to ask people directly rather than make inaccurate assumotions and guesses about what they believe. Oftentimes what people put down to "strangeness" about others is simply misinformation or disinformation.

I feel confident if you want to know what I believe on any given point rather you will simply ask me. It saves time and avoids confusion.

JehovahsWitness wrote: Sat May 13, 2023 2:52 pm I feel confident that regular posters here have good enough sense to simply ask any of the Jehovah's Witnesses present "If you do not believe babies go to heaven, what do you believe happens to them if they die?" should they be curious on the subject.
Then please answer post #12.
In case anyone is wondering... The avatar quote states the following:

"I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness."

I can see why you misunderstood my post. I was using what is called a SIMILE.

Image
A simile compares two dissimilar things using “like” or “as.” The goal of simile is to give the reader a more vivid understanding of something
So a simile doesn't compare two things that are similar, it compares two things that are not similar (dissimilar); why ? to help somone understand something. It's what is called a figure of speech.

Hope that helps,

JW

Fair enough. Well I have no idea what you are refering to when you say "That seems fairly clear" and since you do not wish to explain WHAT you believe is ... {to quote you} "fairly clear", I cannot even begin to respond to your post.

Have a really wonderful weekend.

Oh dear....... what strange ideas, imo. Babies...sinful?
And I notice that you quoted Paul rather than Jesus.

You have no idea what I'm referring to?

I am referring to people who want to tell us what Jesus meant, or thought, or intended, rather than simply sticking to what he said and did.

But he did say Mark {9:37} Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me.................
