Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #51Look, Jesus, per se, is the name of God the Almighty; so is Immanuel, Mighty God, and Eternal Father; therefore, Jesus or Immanuel is the Almighty God, and so is Eternal Father or Mighty God. The Almighty God (Jesus), through the Holy Spirit, created flesh in Mary's womb, despite her still being a virgin. Then Mary conceived and gave birth to a son, whose name, as God decreed, would be Immanuel, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Jesus in relation to the Almighty God's incarnation to save mankind from God's wrath in due time. It was in this son, whom Mary gave birth to, that the Almighty God, whose name is Jesus or Immanuel [or Mighty God or Eternal Father], dwelt Himself for approximately 33 years, more or less - the son, a human like us with flesh and blood, who served as the physical vessel of the Almighty God in coming to the flesh during the apostles' and disciples' time.
Now, would you still ask me if Jesus dwelt in Himself on the premise I stated above?

Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #54To answer the question that I posted in the OP, it is my position that Jesus as one person in not God, because God is not the Son alone by Himself – God is Father and Son united as one.
“For I am not alone, but I am with the Father” (Joh 8:15-17)
“That you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” (Joh 10:37-38)
“I and My Father are one” (Joh 10:30-33)
The Father and Son are always one, so that the one God is always Father and Son.
God is never the Son alone, so that the Son can never be fully human and fully God as one person.
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him…He who has seen Me has seen the Father…The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.” (Joh 14:7-11)
It was the Father living in the Son doing His redemptive work through His Son, so that the works of the Son are the works of the Father being done through His Son, and so that the Father is glorified in His Son.
“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ…that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.” (2 Cor 5:18-19)
The God that was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself is the Father, so that the Divine Nature of the Father is the fullness of Deity who was living in the body of His Son.
“For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells bodily” (Col 2:9)
“For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell” (Col 1:19)
The Hypostatic Union, therefore, is not the union of two natures (human and divine) in one person.
Rather, the Hypostatic Union is the union of two persons (Father and Son) in one body, the body of Christ.
“Indeed…I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.” (Joh 16:32)

Post #57What matters most is what we hear and learn from the living Christ Jesus all the time, not anything that, in our perceptions, works for us, but we’ve not heard and learned from the Lord.

Post #59Yes, Jesus was fully human and fully God, the Word before becoming flesh, not yet named Jesus. When the Word that was God from the beginning became flesh, as I understand it, the Word/God is the Spirit in Jesus, not like us; Jesus needs not the breath of life as it is of God also.Capbook wrote: The OP is: How Is the Hypostatic Union Possible?
I believe the possibility already happened before Jesus divested the power of the Word that was God from the beginning; their "hypostatic union" exists.
Mr E wrote: Hi Capbook- Are you saying that you believe this "hypostatic union" was the state before Jesus divested himself of this power-- ? You mean that Jesus was fully human and fully God in heaven, and then he divested himself of this power, and then he was born, and then he got the power back?
Yes, His flesh is fully human, and His Spirit is fully God the Word.[/quote]Mr E wrote: What are you trying to say? He was either fully human and fully God at the same time, or he wasn't both at the same time at any time.
The word "emptied" bears Strong#G2758, in Greek "κενόω kenoō" defined by Thayer Lexicon as to lay aside Jesus equality with or the form of God.Mr E wrote: In Philippians 2, where we read of this emptying himself (divesture?) that was before he took on the form of a servant (human) so where is this so called hypostatic state?
That proves that the "hypostatic union" was already existing; Jesus just laid aside His equality with God, and that doesn't mean the "hypostatic union or state" ends.
Php 2:7 but N1 R1 emptied G2758 Himself G1438 , taking G2983 the form G3444 of a R2 bond-servant G1401 , and R3 being G1096 made G1096 in the likeness G3667 of men G444 .
G2758 (Thayer)
κενόω kenoō
Thayer Definition:
1) to empty, make empty
1a) of Christ, he laid aside equality with or the form of God

Re: How Is The Hypostatic Union Possible?
Post #60[Replying to Capbook in post #59]
Flesh gives birth to flesh, and while there was a child born in Bethlehem that was fully human, he was not fully God. Again, no hypostatic union. God is not a man.
The spirit entered the flesh at the time it descended from heaven like a dove, and rested upon the man Jesus-- it didn't turn a man into a God, but a man was filled with the holy spirit of God.
In what possible way could Jesus (in spirit, in heaven) have been fully human BEFORE becoming flesh? To be fully human, one must first be flesh.Yes, Jesus was fully human and fully God, the Word before becoming flesh, not yet named Jesus.
This divine state, that is-- spiritual state is BEFORE becoming flesh. So the so called hypostatic union doesn't exist as the son of God is spirit (spirit gives birth to spirit) and not fully human at that time. The word "emptied" bears Strong#G2758, in Greek "κενόω kenoō" defined by Thayer Lexicon as to lay aside Jesus equality with or the form of God.
