This could just be my cynicism talking, but couldn't two people just swamp the whole process by simply perpetually trading massive amounts of tokens back and forth an indefinite number of times, almost ensuring that one of them would win the prize?
Gilt and Vetinari shared a look. It said: While I loathe you and all of your personal philosophy to a depth unplummable by any line, I will credit you at least with not being Crispin Horsefry [The big loud idiot in the room].

Good point. I'm not sure how to handle that one. Perhaps anything that is judged to be cheating could mean automatic disqualification for the drawing?ENIGMA wrote:This could just be my cynicism talking, but couldn't two people just swamp the whole contest by simply perpetually trading massive amounts of tokens back and forth an indefinite number of times, almost ensuring that one of them would win the prize?
Any suggestions Cmass?

Yes, there are some issues when trying this in a virtual community - which is why this is an ongoing experiment. When I set these programs up in factories this never happened - probably due to the fact that everyone knew each other and physically saw each other each day. Some people got a prize more often than others, but it was well deserved because they were the ones who worked the hardest or were the kindest. I can say, however, that the groups were self-regulating and surprisingly empathetic so that even the most cynical among them eventually won a prize.....and would often crack their lips in a barely perceptible smile.ENIGMA wrote:

It may help that when you donate, it takes you to a table showing the people you have donated to and how much you have donated to them.
For example, unless I take the time to count it up, I am not paying attention. But after a quick review it appears that I am bias toward donation to 2 kinds of people: Those who are outrageous (entertaining) like Easyrider or those who are staid and contemplative. It would help to have a list of people, their current MPG token count as well as a how much I have given to each. Osteng, I think you have some tables similar to this already?

Come, I pray you, and we reason, saith Jehovah, If your sins are as scarlet, as snow they shall be white, If they are red as crimson, as wool they shall be!
