How did Jesus become God?

Bart Ehrman has an excellent book entitled "How Jesus became God".

Without turning this into a book debate per se, let's turn the title into a question for debate.

How did Jesus become God? What do you think? What is your understanding of the process, or was Jesus always God? Evidence?

I realize there are a few assumptions in the debate question, but for argument's sake, let's go with it.

Not sure if "exact opposite" fits here since oneness in the bible is not identity. It's more about union or marriage. Two becoming of one flesh / mind. Like Adam and Eve. Or as God declares in Genesis 1, "in the image of God I will make them, man and woman I will make them" (or something to that effect).

That is, God in Godself is a self-declared union that results in a male - female human form when reflected, i.e., a marriage.

So Jesus, then, when declaring that he and the father are one, is fitting this mold. That he is of one flesh / mind with God. The Word made flesh.

I don't think this contradicts Philemon. What Philemon describes is the practical consequence of this, i.e., of Jesus living according to the Word.

Yeah, when the Question first said "The EXACT opposite of scripture!" in post 4, I thought it was a pretty ridiculous remark, because John 10:30 (NWT) is no less scripture than his Philippians 2:5.

I gave references.

Again, Genesis 1:7:

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

The point being that the image of God is man and woman, which means that in God's own nature there is a union (of at least two) that gets reflected as the male and female human form.

We then see this again in further detail in Genesis 2.

i.e., Genesis 2:24:

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

This union of man and woman is the very reflection of God in human form, as indicated in Genesis 1. So no, not baseless interpretation. Just what the book says. In the first few pages no less.

That is, not identity, but union. We can surmise (and there is no shortage of supporting scripture either) that Jesus' oneness with God is of a similar nature. He is part of the union that is God, which enables him to say that he is one with God.

Since Jesus said that only his FATHER is God- do you imply that Jesus later BECAME God, thus forming the Trinity?
