Porn in the Bible?

Porn in the Bible

2 Timothy 3:16 says that all scripture is God-breathed and suitable for teaching.

Including x-rated scripture?

"There were two women engaging in prostitution. The older was named Oholah who lusted after men who poured out their lust upon her. Her sister Oholibah lusted after lovers whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." (Ezekiel 23 NIV)

Did God really intend for young Bible-reading teen girls to see this passage? Or, it this one more example showing that all scripture is not God-breathed and suitable for teaching?

Lol... I don't have to get back to you, our elders are perfectly aware of all the verses in the bible and Jehovah's Witnesses do not censor any part of it. We read it publically in our meetings and have studied the book of Ezekiels (uncensored) many times over the years. If I asked them what they think about Ezekiel 23v20 they will point me to a study and tell me to make up my own mind about it.
I find it hard to believe anyone is genuinely shocked by the mention of the word "genitals" but if you are, may I suggest you simply skip over passages which mention of private body parts, as I would not like to think of you fainting in shock and hitting your head on a hard object.

Anyway, thank you for a most amusing post , you challenge was the funniest I've read in a long time . Please, take very good care of yourself,

It's not a medical or biological reference in the Bible. It's a pornographic description of the lusts of a pair of prostitutes.

Any insinuation that bible reading families that do not censor its contents encourage moral depravity is totally unfounded, but prudes, Puritans and anti-biblists (with their oh so fake shock and horror) do well to not to read the bible if they find its content too upsetting for them.

Joe Mama responds:

The images conveyed are those of a woman who lusts after large donkey penises that ejaculate sperm streams like those from horses. These are words no parent would want their under-age children to see. Which of the following two statements do you think is more likely than the other one?

1. God wanted those words in his Bible.
2. The contents of the Bible were decided by fallible men, not God.

I think I have made my position clear, there's no need to keep going round the topic:
  • The bible does not contain PORNOGRAPHY
  • Ezekiel does not depict a woman lusting after an animal but after her illicit (human) lovers
  • Bestiality is an abhorrent practice which is however mentioned in the bible and arguably at least alluded to in the passage in question
  • The content does not need to be censored as the Bible's language is measured and decent
  • Parents can answer any questions their children have regarding it's contents in an age appropriate way
Jehovah’s Witnesses accept the bible as inspired of God and believe all its contents fully in line with His will and purpose (see Rom 15:4)

. . . our elders are perfectly aware of all the verses in the bible and Jehovah's Witnesses do not censor any part of it.
Sure they do. Just look at your last phrase of Ezekiel 23:20 as cited below.

We read it publically in our meetings and have studied the book of Ezekiels (̶u̶n̶c̶e̶n̶s̶o̶r̶e̶d̶)̶ many times over the years.
And it's no wonder after Jehovah's Witnesses have laundered the verse.

But First

The common renderings of Ezekiel 23:20: with various Euphemisms for "penis."----Of the 55 Bibles I checked none used the anatomically correct word "penises," although some did use a term close enough, such as "sexual members" and "private parts," while others could only shyly hint at its subject, such as "members," and "flesh."

EHV
She lusted after her paramours, whose genitals were like the genitals of donkeys and whose ejaculation was like the ejaculation of horses.

CEB
She lusted after their male consorts, whose sexual organs were like those of donkeys, and whose ejaculation was like that of horses.

ESV
and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses.

CSB
and lusted after their lovers, whose sexual members were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of stallions.

JUB
For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

NIRV
There she had longed for her lovers. Their private parts seemed as big as those of donkeys. And their flow of semen appeared to be as much as that of horses.

Yet few censored themselves from mentioning the seminal discharge like the New World Translation does, and instead repeats the physical character of the penis, which is a wholly JW fabrication. All in all making it far "safer"? to mention the verse in mixed company.

NWT
"20 She lusted after them like the concubines of men whose male members are like those of
a donkey and whose genitals are like those of a horse.
.....................↑ Completely Fabricated part ↑

Third option: The future is actually dystopian levels of prudish.

I don't expect to say this and be defending religious people, but is the fact that women like big dicks, or that men like big boobs, really that unsuitable for children? Isn't this just reality and aren't most teenagers going to have a sense of this reality by the time they're teenagers?

If any Bible-thumpers think they're going to hide their kid under a rock so that she doesn't have a sense of this, well, better make sure there's not a Bible under that rock is all I can say.

Also, how are you going to tell people not to do stuff unless you talk about that stuff? In this case it seems to be taking sexual desire to the hyper-extreme. It's part of the psychological phenomenon where someone gets numb to stimuli from over-exposure and has to have a more and more extreme version of the stimulus to elicit the same reaction. But if I said that and told people not to do it without giving an example, nobody would know what the heck I was talking about not doing.

"Jehovah’s Witnesses accept the bible as inspired of God"

So, with such a belief, you could never accept that any part of the Bible is not the inspired of God? If so, perhaps a caveat should be attached to all of your correspondences, something like the one below?

I will never concede that any part of the (NWT) Bible is in error."

On another matter, I'm curious about your use of the word, "God." Aren't JWs expected to use "Jehovah"?

JoeMama
Conveying with words explicit images of those things, while quite suitable for adults, they are not suitable for seven-year-old children.

Are you the uncle of any young children?

Both the title GOD and the proper name JEHOVAH are found in the bible to identify the Creator, so both are fitting for a believer to use.

While some believers use God's personal name on a strict "need to know" basis, only saying the Divine name when impossible or difficult to avoid, Jehovahs Witnesses follow the bible model and use the name freely (but respectfully) when teaching the bible to others or conversing or worshipping with fellow believers.
