Is the bible the word of God

I found this debate on youtube, very nice and interesting. It is a debate itself, but the good thing is that we can even debate about the outcome or the topic. The debate is whether the Bible is the world of God or not. The debate is divided in the following order. :)

Is the bible the word of God ?
==============================
The Bible is believed to be 'God-breathed' for all the following reasons combined - plus faith
1. 2Tim 3:16
2. Fullfilled prophecies
3. Unity of Scriptures
4. The Bible presents its heroes truthfully with their faults
5. Archealogical findings support History of Scripture
All this can be easily researched on the internet.

I just wonder, is there a version of Bible which is written in the first person? You know, like autobiographies. That will give the impression that it is god talking and not someone else. While we're at this, do you know of any bible-like book written this modern times that supposedly word of god also? There are lots of interesting stories to be told. You know, Bible II.

Hello:
There are easy readable translated versions available like the NIV bible (New International Version).

Which part of the Bible do you make reference to? The OT,the words of Jesus or the words of Paul? Jesus words comprise about 1% of the Bible. The Quaran has many more positive references to Jesus than any other religion. But to claim that any book contains direct words from God is to admit mental illness.

God inspired .... supernaturally God inspired the Authors to write what they wrote.
Therfore, God giving the spiritual factor and the human Authors the human factors.
I also belief that God had His 'hands' in the canonization / selection of the compilation of the bible.

This is conjecture, isn’t it? It is a religious claim that cannot be verified independently, right? Does the bible claim to be "god inspired" or is that simply religious tradition?

Why would one choose to believe that a god had “inspired” or “influenced” or “had his hands in” the writing of anything?

Why would anyone tell others that a work was somehow produced by gods when they have no evidence that what they are saying is true?

  1. 2Tim 3:16
2 Timothy 3:16 wrote:All Scripture is inspired by God ...
Which scripture do you think that the person writing as Paul is referring to? How is it that the fact that scriptures claim to be inspired by God, makes them inspired?
  2. Fulfilled prophecies
Why is it so surprising that those who were trying to establish a new religion based on the prophecies that they knew very well would not incorporate those prophesies into the biographies that they wrote about their founder decades after he died?
  3. Unity of Scriptures
This is an empty claim made only by those who first believe the Bible is from God. Objective readers see no unity between the Song of Solomon and III John.
  4. The Bible presents its heroes truthfully with their faults
That is simply good fiction writing, not divine inspiration.
  5. Archealogical findings support History of Scripture
Is there any Archaeological evidence of the Hebrew escape from Egypt, the nomadic trek in the desert or the invasion and displacement of the inhabitants of Canaan?
All this can be easily researched on the internet.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
First Epistle to the Church of the Thessalonians
The truth will make you free.

You know, the way I feel is, that, in order to belief we do not need to have ALL the answers, nor does EVERYTHING has to be proven, or explained. This list here works for me in combination together of all the points. Like the bible needs to be read and studied in context for better understanding, ALL of these 5 points together have to be taken in consideration. And wether all points below make it sufficient proof is even up to the individual. However, there is substantial evidence. For a true Christian it is enough; for someone who does not belief in God, there never will be enough 'proof'.

Funny how you repeated those statements that have just shown false . Do you think repeating something over and over and over again makes it true?
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Those who wish to believe in supernaturalism will find reason to believe. Those who wish to make decisions on the basis of evidence will ask for verification.

I repeated them to show that all points made should be taken as "a whole" - and nobody proved them to be false! ;)
