==============================Is the bible the word of God ?
===============================I just wonder, is there a version of Bible which is written in the first person? You know, like autobiographies. That will give the impression that it is god talking and not someone else. While we're at this, do you know of any bible-like book written this modern times that supposedly word of god also? There are lots of interesting stories to be told. You know, Bible II.
Please indicate the meaning of "God-breathed" bible as you use the term.byhisgrace wrote:The Bible is believed to be 'God-breathed'

This is conjecture, isn’t it? It is a religious claim that cannot be verified independently, right? Does the bible claim to be "god inspired" or is that simply religious tradition?byhisgrace wrote:God inspired .... supernaturally God inspired the Authors to write what they wrote.Zzyzx wrote:Please indicate the meaning of "God-breathed" bible as you use the term.byhisgrace wrote:The Bible is believed to be 'God-breathed'
Therfore, God giving the spiritual factor and the human Authors the human factors.
I also belief that God had His 'hands' in the canonization / selection of the compilation of the bible.
Is the bible the word of God ?
byhisgrace wrote:The Bible is believed to be 'God-breathed' for all the following reasons combined - plus faithAll this can be easily researched on the internet.
- 2Tim 3:16
Which scripture do you think that the person writing as Paul is referring to? How is it that the fact that scriptures claim to be inspired by God, makes them inspired?2 Timothy 3:16 wrote:All Scripture is inspired by God ...- Fulfilled prophecies
Why is it so surprising that those who were trying to establish a new religion based on the prophecies that they knew very well would not incorporate those prophesies into the biographies that they wrote about their founder decades after he died?- Unity of Scriptures
This is an empty claim made only by those who first believe the Bible is from God. Objective readers see no unity between the Song of Solomon and III John.- The Bible presents its heroes truthfully with their faults
That is simply good fiction writing, not divine inspiration.- Archealogical findings support History of Scripture
Is there any Archaeological evidence of the Hebrew escape from Egypt, the nomadic trek in the desert or the invasion and displacement of the inhabitants of Canaan?

Funny how you repeated those statements that have just shown false . Do you think repeating something over and over and over again makes it true?byhisgrace wrote:==============================================McCulloch wrote:Is the bible the word of God ?byhisgrace wrote:The Bible is believed to be 'God-breathed' for all the following reasons combined - plus faithAll this can be easily researched on the internet.

You know, the way I feel is, that, in order to belief we do not need to have ALL the answers, nor does EVERYTHING has to be proven, or explained. This list here works for me in combination together of all the points. Like the bible needs to be read and studied in context for better understanding, ALL of these 5 points together have to be taken in consideration. And wether all points below make it sufficient proof is even up to the individual. However, there is substantial evidence. For a true Christian it is enough; for someone who does not belief in God, there never will be enough 'proof'.
