When Christians talk about the church’s good works
http://churchandstate.org.uk/2017/02/ho ... nEe4c_g0dA
Question for debate: What 'good works' would equal the bad works done by the church, its officials, and its organized adherents?

ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

God evidently told Moses to kill Amorites.
God evidently told Cortez to kill Native Americans.
God evidently told Polk to kill Native Americans.
God evidently told Hitler to kill Jews, Poles, and more.
God evidently told the British Army, New South Wales Mounted Police to kill Native Australians.
...and the list goes on.
None of them can demonstrate God gave the order.
That means the rational was only a horrible one.
We find this quote in Mein Kamph:Tcg
- Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord. (p. 65)
If the "Lord" actually existed other than in the heads of believers, the "Lord" could have answered the fervent and terrified prayers of his Chosen People who were being exterminated by the Master Race.
The "Lord" helps Christians score touch-downs and find their car keys.
"God" … just whatever humans imagine it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.

I think we have good evidence Hitler manipulated Christianity to promote his racist agenda.
Hitler called it "Positive Christianity"
"Positive Christianity" was not "dependent upon the Apostle's Creed", nor was it dependent on "faith in Christ as the son of God", upon which Christianity relied, rather, it was represented by the Nazi Party: "The Führer is the herald of a new revelation", he said.[3] To accord with Nazi antisemitism, positive Christianity advocates also sought to deny the Semitic origins of Christ and the Bible.

If they had prayed for help before Jesus came, his Dad would have helped them. Sadly, the holocaust happened much too late.
Once his Dad turned the keys of the kingdom over to his son, only those who worshiped Jesus received his Dad's favor. The Israelites were abandoned by their God. The God that promised to always be faithful.
Jesus wanted the Israelites to follow him as they did his Dad. Given that they didn't, his followers started a new religion that favored Jesus' crew and only his crew.

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

I think we have ample evidence that manipulating Christianity to promote any agenda is what every leader does.Tart wrote: I think we have good evidence Hitler manipulated Christianity to promote his racist agenda.
Jesus, for some reason, wanted you to pay taxes and obey Rome.
Moses wanted you to kill Amorites.
And so on.
Leaders find religion useful.

I agree, good works done atone for evil, while individuals can always repent, the organisations responsible for such horror are bloodguilyty in the eyes of God and justice will only be rendered for the victims when they are all completely destroyed!

Post #17Completely destroyed? - of course God wouldn't want to leave an arm or a leg. I think when we try to penetrate the mind of God nonsense emerges.JehovahsWitness wrote:

Who cares? The term is so silly and obsolete that it is an embarrassment to have it mentioned in the present day. It reflects the silly prudery and misogynism of a dark age. Of course the expression provides fodder for folk to attach their pet hate object to - whoever or whatever that might be.
