The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

In our Bible study lesson last night, we read that Jesus started ruling over his congregation at Pentecost of 33 A.D.
Oh?

And here was I thinking that date was 1914 A.D.

You seems to be confusing the Messianic Kingdom (the kingdom for which Jesus taught his followers to pray at Matthew 6:9, 10) with "the Kingdom of God's beloved Son", that is to say Jesus' rule over the Christian CONGREGATION. The latter, as onewithim explained, estalished at Pentecost in 33 CE ensures the spiritual well being of Gods servants under Christ, while the former will destroy all human governments, wipe out (kill) the incorribly wicked and replace all human governments . (We conducting a special campaign on this very theme this month - November 2020)
That clarifies what you understand and what you teach.

Part of that teaching is about what you term "the Messianic kingdom".

However, your description of it did not occur in 1914 and is still future, just as it has been for many centuries.

Checkpoint wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 2:30 am That means I was under a false impression...Perhaps you can help me; maybe you can explain to me how I probably or possibly gained that false impression?
I don't know, I'm not a mind reader. Generally speaking, people usually get a false impression when they are ignorant of all the relevant facts, unduly influenced by inaccurate sources or fail to pay adequate attention to what has been said.

JW
Yes, you don;t know.

What you do know is your explanation of "all the relevant facts".

Such "facts" stem from and are "unduly influenced by inaccurate sources".

It could well be that this is why I "fail to pay adequate attention to what has been said" from those sources.

Yes, although the kingdom was set up in 1914 we continue to pray "Let your kingdom come" ? Why? Because although it took immediate action as an entity, cleansing the heaven of Satan and his demons (Rev 12:12) total world domination (and the fulfillment of the rest of the Messianic promises) is still in the future.

The period from 1914 to the moment when the entire political system is destroyed by Jesus is called , the "last days" or the "new times". 2020 finds us deep into this period. In short the new world (not a new planet but a new world system) is very very close. Hallelujah!

Yes, hallelujah, that last day is closer now than it has been.

In the meantime, what are we awaiting, really?

My focus is on 2 Peter 3, but yours is on Revelation 20.

As for the period after 1914, it doesn't matter what we cal it.

1914 has no more or less spiritual significance than has 1814 or 2014.

I too "believe many millions will be living" in the Paradise conditions described as being the new order, as outlined in Revelation 21 and 22

None of those conditions apply to Revelation 20, which is of a time before the new order can take place.

That is why there is nothing about Paradise or the new order in Revelation 20.

Indeed. You're welcome.

But it leaves alone if or how you might challenge my statements, at this point.

Checkpoint, as far as I can see, Revelation 20 describes events leading up to and even following the GT. and Revelation 21 describes Paradise on Earth and what it will entail. Could you be very specific concerning the reasons you disagree, and very concise and succinct in your explanations? It seems to be that you vacillate between ideas. Help me to understand, in a few words, why you can't see the preface to Paradise and also events after the Millennial Reign in Revelation 20.
