No, you need to understand why you currently don't believe God exists in order to believe God exists.
But you said: “
You can't understand and until God begins to open your mind you will not understand so stop asking over and over.
… We're all inherently closed minded, it takes an act of God to change us.
The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.”
1. I believed and was a Christian so the weak ass apologetic from above does not apply to me.
2. The above translates to: in order to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus), God(Yahweh-Jesus) needs to open one's mind.
God(Yahweh-Jesus)send himself and sacrificed himself to himself in order to save us for from himself.
So in order to be saved by God(Yahweh-Jesus) from himself one needs to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus) and his sacrifice to himself, which is demanded by God(Yahweh-Jesus).
But in order to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus), God(Yahweh-Jesus) needs to open my mind so to be able to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus)(which is demanded by God(Yahweh-Jesus) so be saved by God(Yahweh-Jesus) from God(Yahweh-Jesus). All this happens while God(Yahweh-Jesus) is omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent.
Convoluted illogical, nonsensical mess.

Why? on what basis did you hold that belief back then?
Same as all Christians.
I believed because of the testimonial evidence of the Bible, because of my personal religious experience, because the universe seemed wonderous, intricate, complicated and so on, because I thought people spoked in Heavenly languages when they spoked in tongues.
Q: Why do you believe Christianity is true, that Yahweh-Jesus is real?

Well I was always a skeptical science oriented person, from the youngest age and religion/Christianity was absent from my home when I was a kid.
Many people carry a burden or "religious baggage" all kinds of confusing doctrine and practices and rules and regulations from this sect or that sect, I never had that so when I began to consider the idea of a creator I was free to slowly form a view without having to conform to traditions or doctrine.
I am able to look at the Bible as you are not, without preconceived notions, without man-made rules and regulations, I can see that it predates organized Christion denominations and can explore it more objectively, the source material as you know is from the distant past, before any Catholic church or popes, or weird practices and routines, these all came later and much of it is irrelevant.
The silly argument: your version of Christianity is false, untrue. My(Sherlock Holmes’s) version is correct and rational.
Q: What about the rest of religions? Are Islam, Hinduism, Mormonism all false?
