For debate:

Please offer evidence for a literal six day creation of the Universe.

Please remember that in this section of the site the Bible is not considered authoritative.

We're all inherently closed minded, it takes an act of God to change us.
The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
You need to believe God exist in order to believe God exists.
No, you need to understand why you currently don't believe God exists in order to believe God exists.
alexxcJRO wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:56 am Sir I was a genuine Protestant Christian. I prayed daily, went to Church, singed in Church, heard people speaking in tongues, had communion with Christ. Really believed.
Why? on what basis did you hold that belief back then?
alexxcJRO wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:56 am And then I become unconvinced and an atheist. I look back at those days and I giggle because of silliness of it all.
So that weak ass apology does not work for I was not close minded. It all started with watching a debate on Youtube between an atheist and a theist.
I went from YEC to OEC. Then from OEC to rejecting the Old Testament mostly. And then I gave up on the New Testament and Christianity after my knowledge concerning the gospels and aspects of our reality increased.
In the process as I was developing a skeptical, scientific way of thinking, a logical way of looking at things I gave up other beliefs too(ghosts, Strigois, the Greys, conspiracies and so one).
Shedding off all those beliefs was like a big awakening. Although reality was far less mysterious I suddenly felt I was more free. The creep from the sky was no longer watching my every move.
No more having the shackles of sin weighing me down, the fear of God and Hell. I was cured of the delusion that governed and influenced my entire life. I felt like being cured from a mental illness. O:)
Well I was always a skeptical science oriented person, from the youngest age and religion/Christianity was absent from my home when I was a kid.

Many people carry a burden or "religious baggage" all kinds of confusing doctrine and practices and rules and regulations from this sect or that sect, I never had that so when I began to consider the idea of a creator I was free to slowly form a view without having to conform to traditions or doctrine.

I am able to look at the Bible as you are not, without preconceived notions, without man-made rules and regulations, I can see that it predates organized Christion denominations and can explore it more objectively, the source material as you know is from the distant past, before any Catholic church or popes, or weird practices and routines, these all came later and much of it is irrelevant.

1. I believed and was a Christian so the weak ass apologetic from above does not apply to me.

2. The above translates to: in order to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus), God(Yahweh-Jesus) needs to open one's mind.

God(Yahweh-Jesus)send himself and sacrificed himself to himself in order to save us for from himself.
So in order to be saved by God(Yahweh-Jesus) from himself one needs to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus) and his sacrifice to himself, which is demanded by God(Yahweh-Jesus).
But in order to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus), God(Yahweh-Jesus) needs to open my mind so to be able to believe in God(Yahweh-Jesus)(which is demanded by God(Yahweh-Jesus) so be saved by God(Yahweh-Jesus) from God(Yahweh-Jesus). All this happens while God(Yahweh-Jesus) is omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent.

Convoluted illogical, nonsensical mess. :dizzy:

Sherlock Holmes wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:07 am Why? on what basis did you hold that belief back then?

Same as all Christians.
I believed because of the testimonial evidence of the Bible, because of my personal religious experience, because the universe seemed wonderous, intricate, complicated and so on, because I thought people spoked in Heavenly languages when they spoked in tongues.
Q: Why do you believe Christianity is true, that Yahweh-Jesus is real?

The silly argument: your version of Christianity is false, untrue. My(Sherlock Holmes’s) version is correct and rational.
Q: What about the rest of religions? Are Islam, Hinduism, Mormonism all false?

You were never a Christian if this is why you believed. People can only become Christians when the Holy Spirit convicts them of the sin in their life. It seems from your testimony that was never the case. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"

God is one and so God did send Himself to die on the Cross for our sins. God did take the punishment for our sin. Otherwise, God would have had to send all mankind away from Him. That is what hell is eternal separation from God. And since all good things come from God there is nothing good in hell. Nothing that brings men pleasure is in hell.

And yes Christianity is Exclusive

Ah, yes. When a Christian does bad things or realises that they got it all wrong, they were never actually a Christian. The No True Christian™ card usually gets played whenever there is nothing substantial available. Throw in a few opinions expressed in an ancient text and that is supposed to close the case. The Bible is a collection of claims and is not evidence that the claims or opinions expressed within it are true.

All written history, particularly from antiquity is "a collection of claims", how have you proceeded in the past to "verify" the truth of any of them? Give me one example from ancient history that you have ever even bothered to "verify" and hold to be true? then tell us all please, how exactly you performed the "verification"?

I can't wait to learn from your erudition.

Nah. It is astonishingly easy to become a Christian. All one has to do is follow what they believe to be the teaching of Jesus.
And yes Christianity is Exclusive
If by exclusive you mean the most popular religion in the world to join, then yes, it is exclusive.

You mean something like "the Holy Spirit told me so"? OK then. That seems to be the going rate for definitive evidence among Christian apologists.

But sir I did believe I was a sinner. I repented and asked for forgiveness.
I did believe Jesus died for me. I did believe I experienced the Holly Ghost.
Now I don’t. I have cured myself of silliness and delusion, of myths and logical impossibilities, of irrational fears in eternal damnations.
I advise you to do the same. 8-)

I present your post history as historical evidence you refuse to accept any argument that fusses it up with the ignorance you display in scientific matters.
