Ordered to worship?

Ordered to worship?

In a current thread regarding commandments, part of one of my posts was:
If a person or entity COMMANDS people to worship it, that person or entity is decidedly NOT worthy of respect, let alone worship.

‘Worship me and be rewarded or refuse and be punished (after you die)’ is coercion

‘You have free will to worship me or not, but if you don’t you’ll be going to hell (or whatever threat)

In my world, respect is EARNED. not demanded or commanded.
What say you?

ANY of the thousands of "gods" proposed, imagined, worshiped, loved, feared, and/or fought over by humans MAY exist -- awaiting verifiable evidence

Well, Commandments, if they were laws, divine laws would need to be observed just like laws of gravity.
Obeying, no matter how insensical, would be proof of their truth.

Since we see none of this, we can only conclude at least one God is false.

No one or thing should think they are worthy of worship, including any god, should one exist. Certainly not the Biblical god, which is all that is evil if what the Bible states about it is true.

IS THE CREATOR BEING IMMODEST OR ARROGANT IN EXPECTING TO BE WORSHIPPED?
  • Worship has been defined as "The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity". The nation of Israel freely entered into an agreement to worship YHWH/Jehovah the God of the bible exclusively, thus the first of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:3 ) And the Christian arrangement similarly holds love of God at it's basis as the greatest of all commandments.
     DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Is it theoretically "arrogant" , misplaced or immodest for the Creators of the universe to propose such a commandement rather than simply prove his with and wait for his creation to choose to offer it?

YOU ARE WORTHY O JEHOVAH
  • Revelation 4 verse 11 presents an incontestable truth, the Creator is worthy of worship by virtue of him being the source of all life.
     REVELATION 4:11

“You are worthy, Jehovah our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they came into existence and were created. - NWT
It is neither immodest nor inappropriate for the creator and sustainer of all life to be recognised as such and receive the honor this merits. Just as a Father and provider reasonably expects respect and obedience from those in his home because of what he has done and continues to do for them, so all intelligent creatures that profit from the life God provides owe Him their respectful reverence (worship).

DOES GOD FORCE WORHIP ON HIS CREATURES
  • Interestingly, Jehovah (YHWH) does not oblige his intelligent creation to worship him. His commandments reflect the standards of true (or acceptable) worship should one choose to participate, but he forces nobody to comply to those standards. Thus we have atheists and evil individuals who, either from ignorance or a wilful disregard, refuse to conform to God's standards but in his mercy God allows them not only to continue living for the time being, but showers his blessings on them (Compare Matthew 5 :45). Of course, all choices by definition, incur consequence.
To illustrate While nobody is forced to respect the law of gravity, anyone exercising their freedom to ignore it by stepping off of a cliff or a high building must face the consequences of their decision (freedom of choice is not synonymous with freedom from consequence).
The Israelites where free to live within the nation's borders and respect it's laws and regulations, or try their chances with the Cananites, Assyrians or Baylonians. Or they could opt for living independent of any existing society at the time and simply wander off into the wilderness alone and see how long they survived. Today every individual is free to worship the Creator or not and see how long they survive, but just as a human has the God given right to refuse to love or worship God, God exercises His freedom to demand what is rightly His.

CONCLUSION An infinite omnipotent has no limits so he cannot by definition be immodest (modesty is being cognitive of ones limits). The Creator of the universe and sustainer of all life should rightly be worshipped as such and it is balanced and reasonable that his intelligent creation love and praise Him for the gifts of air, water, sunshine, food, family, health and pleasure we all benefit from everyday.

Of course we are worthy of Jehovah.
Jehovah murders unjustly. Most of the people ever born eclipse him there.
He has never fulfilled an oath, unless it was vindictive.
Even Stalin didn’t effect terracide.
In short there is no human born who has done anywhere near the evils of Jehovah, so it is difficult to imagine anyone who is less worthy. Difficult to imagine anyone whom Jehovah can claim to be better than.
